came across this in the Z forum. I usually go there for vids but came across this...

"As we hit the apex of the turn, my car began to due the infamous stress signs, showing that it was reaching its limits. The rear began to shake, the car started to float , and it started to feel like it was going to get out of line. After another quick peek I had passed the 65 mark on the speedo, yet the rx8 continued to accelerate."

They're not balanced as well as an Rx-8 certainly. From everything I've read the numbers are all pretty similar though.

I hope and pray people from either board don't sign up just to berate/bash/praise whichever vehicle they like best :)

That said, the RX8 owner seemed like an ass - if he really did start w/ the weaving in and out. :)

hehe

Yeah, pretty dangerous driving, but he was playing to the strengths of his car it seems.

That poster had another pretty funny story about his buddy's RX-8...

You didn't read the very bottom around the rental car.

That board = "Holy Out of Control Signatures, Batman!"

One's reply/post should never take up fewer lines than their signature. Some of those guys use FOURTY lines, just for their signature...like anyone CARES what kind of oil they use, or what kind of brake pads they get. Nobody cares what anyone's 'future mods' are...

(sigh) :)

He wasn't stupid. He knew in straight line power the 350z would catch him eventually. In this case, the better, or should I say more crazy driver gets the nod. When you race in that type of weaving in and out of traffic, it always comes to driver. This guy obviously knows how to get the most out of his rx8. Although I see more respect from the 350z driver, and more of a defensive attitude on the rx8 driver's part. Interesting post either way.

The 'better' of the two drivers thought it best to play it safe, instead of doing the Traffic Nascar Weaves

I love how in the subsequent posts, they commence to trash talk the RX-8. This coming from owners of the only vehicle that outnumbers the Mustang. No thanks.

I have and only race once with a 350z from a line. I beat him on the launch and took it the whole way. Due the the fact that he was spinning out too much. If he would of had a normal launch he would of taken me easily.

Eh, I don't understand all the posteuring.

I mean anyone can look at the numbers. The 350Z is faster 0-60. It's definitely faster, but it's not much faster (like say an STi is). What does this mean? The RX-8 can definitely beat a 350Z if the driver skill is not equal. If skill is equal (or the 350Z driver is better) the 350Z will win. If the RX-8 driver is better than the 350Z driver, the RX-8 can win.

The people there are making it sound like the RX-8 is a slow car. It's not.... it's a fast car that's slowER than the Z. I mean that's like STi/Evo owners saying the 350Z is a slow car and that maybe a Toyota Echo can beat the 350Z since STis/Evos dominate Zs so badly. :-/ Or maybe a jogger can beat the 350Z cuz I mean c'mon... Z's have no chance vs STis so with great logic I come up with "the 350Z is a slow car".

Then again I've seen people here that think the RX-8 would dominate the G35/350Z in the twisties as much as the people there think the 350Z would dominate the RX-8 in a straight line. Ah, whatever. I am glad no one here went over there to talk sh!t though. :)

He has some big balls to post his loss but with so many variables in play the results really don't matter.

I find it funny that perceptions out there are that the RX8 is slow.

My 8 had been in the garage for a couple of weeks and it was a nice day and I was feeling pretty good and "exercising" the car. It was getting dark and I was at this red light. The light turns green and I get a good 3K launch and proceed to take it up to (well, slightly over) the speed limit when I notice the set of car lights behind me, I wasn't thinking nothing of it and proceeded through my gears leaving the lights farther behind...felt pretty good after driving a minivan all winter.

I pull up to the next lights and stop at the red and the lights behind me change lanes and pulls up next to me. It's a ford focus ZX something. The guy rolls down his window, so I roll down mine and he says "Man, those things are suppose to be slow". I wasn't racing him but I think he was. WTF.

Apparently word is out that the RX8 is slow, so slow that this guy in a focus thought that he'd race.

I lurk a couple of other sites, 350, srt-4, Rsx and check out the vids. Sometimes you catch posts on rx8's and everyone thinks thier pretty slow. I read even base neon and rsx owners claiming they beat manual 8's...I laugh so hard, but it is the perception out there that we are slow.

Let them think that all they want, more then this 350 owner is in for a few surprise's. ;)

BTW, I'm not even registrared at these sites, just interested in reading and vids.
I have nothing to say to them, and I'll keep it that way...besides, thier funny without any input from me...

Haha....I especially like the sig line of one of the 350Z'ers:

"Free Additional Features: Window Grease / Tire Roar / Paint Cracking / Squeaks and Rattles." -- MySunset350Z

That's from a Z-Car enthusiast? Sheeeez.

How could any car that runs 0-60 in 6 and quarters in mid 14s be considered slow? Blindingly fast? No. Quick? Maybe. Slow? No.

I love the use of missing comparisons. "Your 8 is slow". Slow compared to what? A 350Z is slow compared to a Viper. Define slow.

I like how he says there was no win/kill. Um, he lost. He said it himself that the 8 was leaving him on/around the on ramp. He had the balls to admit that he couldn't beat the 8, but he didn't have the balls to actually say he lost.

Kill threads on every other forum. Growup already or die young, their chioce. Anybody here when buying the 8 thought man imagine the races I can get into on the street with this thing? I hope not. Take it to the track. Leave my innocent family out of your death wish.

i like my slow 8, don't you? haha. god damn kids harass me everyday at work b/c i won't race them in their S2000s, Type-Rs, 1.8Ts, 330Cis. i bought my RX8 b/c of the practicality...not b/c i want to chase little boys in their little race cars. i'll race any 350z in a controlled environment...but i get to choose the flagger. muahahahahaha!! :D

On every other forum it is only SOME people that are bashing other cars too ;) Unless there is a car bashing forum, which sadly enough, there probably is.

I don't mind the idea of a kill section, that is: comparison of the performance of these cars in the hands or the average driver and situation, but I do no condone street racing. The problem is that there are always SOME people who say stupid shit in them, it would be the very same here if we had one.

I'm against a kill forum actually since it's not "SOME" people who say stupid shit in them, it's MOST people that say stupid shit in them. I've only seen a couple kill sections and it was plenty. Maybe I was just lucky but the ones I have seen are absurdly dumb. And then the kill stories posted here (before they get deleted or whatnot) are pretty much at the same level.

I mean it's great to have stories about how the car performs against other cars; but a kills section is going to be 90% street racing where 99% of the posts will only be "I JUST KILLED CAR X, CAR X SUCKS!" and where 25% of them are likely to be because the other guy wasn't really trying.

On the other hand if the "kill" section was more "performance at the track" section, that would be interesting. :) It'd be nice to know how various cars fare with hopefully less biased discussion.

And there's a 95% chance that the stories in those kill threads are either entirely made up, or embellished to the point that the real truth is lost somewhere in the translation. How many 18/19 year olds are accomplished drivers? I sure wasn't, although I sure believed (at the time) that I was. Nothing replaces experience.

The Z owner's story reminds me of something that happened to me. A car was following me a bit closely on one of my favorite back roads. It has a stiff, uphill S curve with limited visiblity heading in. Approaching it, I accelerated very gradually, then whipped into the curve. Past the curves, I watched for the headlights behind me. They took an awful long time to appear. I think the tailgater -- whatever it was -- followed me at that speed into the curve and got a bit of a surprise.
