Okay with the new Titanium we have:
1. Tinted Windows
2. Floor mats
3. The bin with the lid in the boot
4. The rear door protectors.

On the priority list is:
1. Hymee Grill Kit
2. 1 Litre bottle of Mazda Oil

On the possible list:
1. The Hymee shifter (If my driving does not improve)
2. Mudflaps

Does anyone have the mud flaps? Any comments.

Buy a four litre bottle of oil! It's the old six pack of beer vs a carton equation!

Front & Rear accents look great, I got other bits but not those on delivery and ordered later, really stand out for a "minor cosmetic".

Didn't fit flaps as plan to fit some body kit later. Have drived in all sorts of stuff and not had any stone chip issues from not having.

Rear accent looks a lot odd to me, so I opted for the european factory fog lights. They are great!

Grill kit with accent is a great combo.

Stone chip is a huge problem for me. I have sit down one day to touch up all of them.

I beg to differ -- but not on reasons of quantity or value: get a 1 litre bottle, which you can store very conveniently in the compartment in the ski hatch. Then, each time you get a service, the dealer should give you the remainder of the 5 litre container they use (well, mine do ;)) , giving you just enough for top-ups between services.

I would say that you would need to be a better driver in order to master the short throw shifter ,as the gears are way closer more precise so keep on practising on the stock one till you get better :)

Personally, I don't like the mud flaps but each to their own.

I tossed up the accents but figured Mazda wanted too much for them. As it was I felt the fender strakes, door sill covers and fuel cap I did shell out for were criminally priced.

The only money I want to spend on the car from now on is for performance mods. Hymee's exhaust kit is on the shopping list and I'm also considering the lightened flywheel.

Michael, the short-shifter actually makes shifting easier, especially 1-2 (as most have commented on) and 5-6 (which some have commented on). I don't know what advantage one would get by continuing to stuff around with the standard shifter when there is a better alternative to aid fast gear changes :confused:

Add to your accessories list a small bottle of touch up paint, keep it in the glove box, an invaluable asset especially when driving behind other fast moving RX-8's on windy roads out to Wisemans Ferry, I copped about 8 chips that day andthnks to the touch up paint you can no longer see then without a very close look.

OK it's not often i climb on the high horse but:

1. I meant 4 litres cause that's what we buy, fully imported from Japan.:p
2. It's $20 (if you can get it) for 1L vs $37 NZ peso's for 4L.
3. Ok you get a little bit "free", good mechanic, well done, my hats off. But why carry it around. (I know I'm going to get s##t canned for this).
We all ditch the spare wheel, and lets face it you're more likely to need that than an "emergency" 1L. (I read your post on your consumption, about the same as mine.)
If you are at the garage, you're surposed to let the car sit for 15min (or 10 can't remember). Who the hell wants to do that? I top up at home.
4. And if i put the oil in the little box in the divider, where my spare hamster going to live, Eric's going to have to go in the glovebox and bang goes the minties!!

Agreed for a more experienced manual driver the short shifter is a huge advantage but for a newbie with a new car definetely not. sorry to disagree. :p
The short throw shifter is a more advanced form of shifting , not everyone had problems with the stock shifter , only the ones who used it as an excuse for not being able to shift properly :)

Anyone have roof racks?

What's recommended for carrying bikes?

I tried getting thule roofracks but NO FIT for RX8 unless somebody does a towbar for the rx8 and you could get a towbar mounted bike rack.

I did do a lot of research to where to get and which product is better. Collect all RX-8 related gadget. I can still find RX-8 Sinn watch but for $2000... :D

Bike rack - I recommand other car. Although there are some available (I think I found one via Autobarn), the curve of the roof so that the front and rear is not perfectly level. The ones that you put lower than the other (which is the rear) will have more stress and rubbing on the paint. Although the company and Autobarn said it is perfectly ok but I had my doubt and gave up the idea. If there is a better design then please let me know too. I am a mad cyclist too.

Funnily enough.. I've seen someone in Melbourne pulling a trailer of garbage behind they're 8.... what kind of mental would do that?! (unless all their funds went into buying the 8 of course) .....Thats like an odd couple thing!

Towbar is possible (do a search) they are not pretty but can be fitted and you then have somewhere to put a bike rack.

my rx8 is arriving next week, and am planning to try and fit thules two door roofrack kit to it. It worked very well on my skyline, leaving not damage to the paint work or door seals, and proved to be very tough moving surf boards and snowboards at break neak speeds!!. Has anyone tried this yet? i know thule havent recommended anything yet but the same kit is recommended for the rx7.

Whenever I've had to take surfboards, I've just laid the passenger seat down and put them in lengthways (in board covers of course). By opening both side doors access is pretty easy.

Even if you've got a passenger, provided your boards aren't over, say 6'9", you can fit two boards this way and your passenger can sit behind you. Mal riders need not apply! :spank: :mdrmed:

Of course, roof racks might be easier for your situation but I thought I'd suggest this in case you haven't tried it.

Personally, I usually just nick my wife's station wagon. :mdrmed:
