I know everyone excited about the first RX-8's hitting US shores/dealerships, but those with info please don't forget about us poor saps in the 2nd shipment. Has there been any word on what the hell is holding the 2nd east coast boat up considering the 2nd weat coast boat left a while ago?

Yes, Any news would be helpful. We in the East are starting a club of peole that order in the 1st order period, have Vin# <2000, and have cars still sitting in Japan.

My Vin# is 1941. I put my down payment in Oct 2002. Yet my car is not on it way. But , the west coast people with VINs way over mine are on there way or here.

I am confused... So any information on second boat to east coast would be great.

Last 4 on mine are 2626, it should have been way lower. I, like you, was screwed out of a 1st allocation pre-order. I originally ordered around Nov. of last year. That's all right, though, I know the wait will be worth it.

I guess we're in the same boat (groan). I ordered in January and just got built 6/23, leaving Japan 6/27. How can it be that I ordered the first week of the "pre-order" program and my car's not on the first or second boat????? I suspect my dealer screwed up, but he denies it.

Some of the threads suggest it has to do with running cars without moonroofs, re-tooling the line then running moonroof cars. Some suggest it has to do with the color of the cars. Seems strange. My VIN ends in 6064 and I'm in PA.

My dealer also said the boat that unloaded recently is only for west and south/gulf states. But who knows....

I hope the 6/27 date is accurate. If it is, I can start figuring out when it will arrive in the states and even make a lucky guess on when it will hit the dealership. We can base all this info on the 1st east coast boat, which I believe is in port or almost in port. With all these posts about arrival dates I lost track of the 1st east coast boat.

With a VIN ending in 6464 and a 2nd allotment, I seriously doubt you were a preorder. Also, there are several pre-orders that are not GT packages, different colors, with or w/out sunroof, etc. I think your dealer dropped the ball on your preorder, but the ait will be worth it.
