But yes i get pulled over all the time for it .... but my bro jsut signs it off for me ..... Shane XDEEDUBBX 04-01-2005, 07:00 PM dam that almost looks photochopped N8theGr8 04-01-2005, 07:24 PM I have NEVER seen a front windshield tinted like that. Interesting. I DO see the reflective kind on the front all the time...legal. Never a VAST hole of blackness though. Watch out for birds! Flawless 04-01-2005, 07:34 PM Redlinin 8: Just a word of advice... I would double check with your insurance company about their tinting policy. The guy who tinted my car told me that if the winshield is tinted and you get in an accident -- they aren't liable and can claim your view was obstructed by the tint - no matter what the percentage. So might want to consider taking the front tints off the winshield, although they do look rather nice :). Kel Rx8 04-02-2005, 12:59 AM hope the front isnt done its no fun driving a car with the front windshield done, my s4 was completely tinted the guy even tinted the outside mirrors. i would tell everyone the previous owner was a ugly mutha $#^## and must of hated himself :) but tints to me have 2 things that bother me 1 cops its a reason 2. easier for thiefs to break window with out noise(shatters and sticks to tint) well in my old previous home i learned that the hard way several times. Redlinin 8 04-02-2005, 01:09 AM Thanks for the comments. I tinted the front windshield for looks. No it is not legal, its hard to see out but its not terrible. The legal part doesnt concern me because i have family on the force and know many cops that take care of my tickets. The car looks like a beast when its comming down the street with just the driving lights on and the tint. Iv'e been getting more attention the last 2 days than the last month.Even if i get pulled over (which i havnt yet) its worth it,it makes the car look that good. \\Konig\\ 04-02-2005, 01:27 AM looks nice, but we really need some daytime pics please. Which eyelids are those? Redlinin 8 04-02-2005, 01:30 AM ill get some daytime pics tomorrow. They are the R magic's VmanX 04-02-2005, 01:33 AM 2. easier for thiefs to break window with out noise(shatters and sticks to tint) wow.. never thought of it that way.. interesting canaryrx8 04-02-2005, 09:11 AM looks cool, don't think I'd ever tint the front myself but whatever, your eyelids look like they don't match your red in the pics, they look darker to me for some reason. Socr8tes 04-02-2005, 09:27 AM This is retarded. You've set aside safety and drivability in favor of looks. Do you also recline the seat all the way back while you drive? And this is just my opinion, but I'm not a fan of the eyelids either. They look tacked on, like they don't belong. Morgan 04-02-2005, 01:03 PM Front tint? No me gusta... Redlinin 8 04-02-2005, 01:44 PM This is retarded. You've set aside safety and drivability in favor of looks. Do you also recline the seat all the way back while you drive? And this is just my opinion, but I'm not a fan of the eyelids either. They look tacked on, like they don't belong. If you want to give an opinion give it,but dont get stupid from behind a computer screen and start saying things like "do you also recline the seat all the way back while you drive". I drive at the speed limits and i have no problems seeing during the day. At night its a little hard to see,but its not at all an issue because im not doing 100mph down every road. You have 11 posts, and if you want to get respect from other members, dont start assuming things. To anyone else that posted honest opinions, thanks. Socr8tes 04-02-2005, 02:29 PM That was a question, not an assumption. And I don't recall saying anything about speeding. Whether I have 11 posts or 270, my opinion's not going to change. Talk about having a problem taking criticism. slllygrl10 04-02-2005, 03:40 PM You can have a 35% tint on the windshield...... G8rboy 04-02-2005, 03:54 PM You can have a 35% tint on the windshield...... In what state??? Maybe you're thinking of 65% tint (which is referring to light transmission, not darkness of tint), which would be hardly noticeable. The 20% tint this guy did is ridiculous... Mugatu 04-03-2005, 12:06 PM tint on a front windshield is DEFINITELY illegal. but that doesn't stop people from doing it. heck, going over 55 or 65 mph is illegal, and people do that on a daily basis. Discman2 04-03-2005, 10:10 PM Can you even see at night? Seriously dazygirl415 04-03-2005, 10:31 PM I think the eyelids look GREAT! I've always been partial to red...... :D Be careful with the tinted windshield. Thought: Can you always see great out of your rear windshield with a dark tint? JeRKy 8 Owner 04-03-2005, 11:07 PM This is retarded. You've set aside safety and drivability in favor of looks. Actuallyanyone who bought an Rx8 definitely set something aside b/c I dont give ashit what any Rx8 owner tells you - looks had A LOT to do w/their purchase! If this car didnt look so good and were smiliar to the style of the speedy econoboxes like EVOs WRXs and SRT4s - I bet at least 80% of thepeople on this forum wouldnt own an Rx8 today. And ifwe jump off the topic of cars for a second - haha - I set aside a helluva lotmore than what youve just listed in favor of looks - just glance at the kinds of airheads and pains in the ass Ive been in a relationship w/just to have a pretty face. Do you also recline the seat all the way back while you drive? Imnot a fan of sitting allthe way back in the driver seatwhen you drive either - but then again safety wise - the further away youare from the windshield the less of a chance your head will slam into it inan accident. Butyoud probably get a nice dosage of whiplash. MetroJay 04-03-2005, 11:19 PM Well, I've never even heard of anyone tinting their windshield. Probably for good reason too. I've sat in cars with 20% tints on the windows and the rear, and it really reduces visibility, especially in bad conditions (ie on a rainy or foggy night). Having the windhshield tinted, I would assume, would be an annoying strain on the eyes, especially during long drives at night. But if you can handle it, then enjoy it by all means, cuz who am I to judge? :) Navybeardbb 04-04-2005, 12:33 AM my friend has a tahoe with the top half of his windshield tinted and he loves it so i dunno...or maybe it's the bottom half...one of the two :) Socr8tes 04-04-2005, 08:28 PM Actuallyanyone who bought an Rx8 definitely set something aside b/c I dont give ashit what any Rx8 owner tells you - looks had A LOT to do w/their purchase! Butyoud probably get a nice dosage of whiplash. I do agree that looks were probably very important to the majority of 8 owners, but there's a difference between choosing looks over some performance or over safety. In its stock, beautiful form, the RX-8 is still a perfectly safe car. It's apples and oranges. I guess it's just a matter of personal priorities. And I can accept that different people have different priorities -- a tinted windshield just doesn't seem worth any possible aesthetic advantage to me. As for the safety factor of a reclined driver's head not slamming into the dash: I could care less about the driver; I'm worried about the guy taking an evening jog. Same with a tinted windshield. I don't care if this guy hits someone else's parked RX-8 at night, my issue is with the increased probability of him hitting your or my car stopped on the side of the road with someone in it. I guess I'm just too practical. And for women: I was lucky enough to find a down-to-earth knockout with a PhD. :p But I'm sure you had a damn good time (at least for a while) too. I guess my point is you should do what makes you happy even if you have to make some personal sacrifices, just don't go making those decisions and sacrifices for innocent people around you. If it's illegal and you're getting ticketed, it's probably for a reason. -S NavyDood 04-05-2005, 02:03 AM I needed a good laugh tonight before I went to bed Redlinin 8. You managed to do just that. I'm with Socr8tes on this one. One of the most idiotic things I have ever seen done. Why don't you put some spinners on it too? takahashi 04-05-2005, 02:29 AM Thanks for the comments. You may not be in trouble with the cops. But touch wood you crash into anything.... they will have the front tint as a very very good excuse to make you at fault. It is illegal anywhere in the world. So I think it is unwise unless you want to keep your car in the showroom. wndotinter 04-06-2005, 09:43 PM that shiat is a rollin' ticket. there is no state or country anywhere where it's legal to tint the windshield like that. maybe in a 70% uv shield (which is pretty much clear as it is) but that's it. plus you're not allowed to tint the 2 front doors in ny...so those are illegal too. hope you don't get in a wreck because the insurance companies will consider that the vehicle is illegal to have on the roads and no one will be covered. |
