i want to know how many of u buy extended warranty for your 8 ????

I didnt buy one, and they didnt really mention it. How much extra is it? can you get it now. They tried to sell me for $500 dent/ding coverage for 3yr, $500 for inside stain coverage, and keyless starter for $350... I didnt take any of them. But already have a small dent near the gas lid, and chip paint. I maybe should of took the dent thing.

I didn't buy one, but you can buy the Mazda one anytime as long as your regular warranty is in effect. So if you feel you'd rather have it later you can buy it from your dealer, or buy one of the extended warranties available online that are probably cheaper.

i bought one from dealer last month when i purchased my 8 and today i am going down there to have it cancelled. way much more expensive plus the dealer didnt explain to me how years are measured. bought 6 yrs/72000 miles so thought wud expire 2011 but only till 09/2009. asked the dealer how come and said date is measured from date car was manufactured which totally nonsense !!
really pissed with them. you may go to www.autowarrantydirect.com to get a better overview of auto warranty. they have pretty good deal compared to what those fxxx dealers offer. u can always purchase extended warranty if factory one still in effect.

My experience has taught me that the extended warranty isn't all it's cracked-up to be. Most dealers inflate the extended warranty prices sometimes close to 100%. Extended warranties are a big money maker for the dealerships. If you plan on trading your car in in a few years I would advise against the extended warranty. However, if you plan on keeping the car til it dies then maybe it may be a good idea. There are many companies that also sell extended warranties for new cars,way below the dealer cost. If you feel like you really need one than take my advice and shop around a little first. Read your current new car warranty first. Most new cars have sufficient warranties already. However if something does go wrong with the car after the original warranty is up then repairs could be costly,especially new cars.

Did anybody pay extra for that coating they put on the car. They said it wont fade and it will be shinny or something and if there is damage to the paint in 3 or 4 years they will repaint the car for free. . I said no to everything thought it was a scam.

every extended warranty i have ever purchased has paid for itslef. especially if it's an american car.

I got a 3 year extra warranty (7/70,000) for $1000 at my wife's insistance. Coverage is bumper to bumper, no deductable. I went in with the "no extras" mentality, but my old Probe GT was pretty high maintenance after it's warranty went out. It's insurance, so I'll most likely lose on the deal unless the 8 makes like my Probe and starts knocking off power windows.

I'd really consider getting it on the 8.. parts are very proprietary.. and noone is gonna wanna really work on this car but the dealer anyways.. you'll end up paying for it one way or the other so might as well get it ahead of time and financed in for 3-5 bucks a month. Every car I've had started getting it's quirks at about the 75,000 to 95,000 mile mark. You work those out right and the car is happy for another 100k or so.

But how much did you pay for the car... nothing is free...
Sidekick, I bought my 8 back in August and paid $23.5k for it, so if hypothetically the extended warranty was an added cost, then I must've gotten an amazing deal on the car itself, especially considering this was last summer.

On my previous car (93 Eagle Talon) , I bought an Extended warranty from Geico, and it saved me thousands over the life of the car... about 3 alternators and several other odds and ends.

Definately worth it if you plan on keeping the car..

As others have said:
1) Do not buy from Dealer IMO. There are several online Extended-warranty places and most of those are cheaper and have more flexable options for your warranty needs.. One site (name eludes me at the moment) had different coverages going from basic powertrain, all the way through standard maintenace such as oil changes etc...

2) Shop Early! If you even think you may want to buy a warranty, especially from an aftermarket online retailer, the younger your car is, the cheaper the waranty is. You've plenty of time at the moment, but don't wait 2-3 years and then decide you want one...

3) If you lease... think twice about it, even if your planning on buying. Extended warrantys are basically insurance. If the car has a lot of problems before the lease is up, you probably aren't going to keep the car anyway. If it has little or no problems then it probably won't need the extended warranty so long as you keep it in good shape and get it completely checked out before buying it.
