View Full Version : Rx8's For A Wedding???
ROTOR 7 03-27-2005, 06:35 AM Hey Guys,
I am a member of Ausrotary and i was going to ask this question there but thought this would be a better place to start ;)
i am getting married on the 5th of november this year, and would love to have two RX8's (preferably black) as our wedding cars.
it would be great to use my own car (FC3S) but its got two fixed back race seats in it so dont think its going to happen :p
anyway the wedding will be held at Mona Vale Golf Club on the northern beaches sydney, and we are doing the whole thing there so the only travel would be getting there then photos and thats it.
so if anyone can help me out that would be great, i am happy to pay for the time petrol ect + you would get some great pics of your car
thanks Steve
hey mate, i think its too early to "call" for the cars.
maybe a good idea to brng this thread up again when it gets closer.
let me know anyway, i might be able to get a few 8's for you, not necessary black ones though....... i can most likely get you pimped out yellow and orange ones ;)

Revolver 09-25-2005, 06:31 PM CALLING ALL BLACKS
Rotor 7 has gotten really desperate and has resorted to calling on my titanium. I've just checked the date and believe I can do it (and would be happy to) but he obviously wants 2 blacks for uniformity. Otherwise, half of his wedding will be stealth. ;) :D
So c'mon blacks - show some pride and put your hand up for our fellow rotary brother. As he said, you'll get some great pics of your car and the quiet satisfaction that you have assisted another happy couple into wedlock (for better or for worse :p ).
Oh, and Rotor 7, if it turns out you still need me (because all the black owners are pussies), I bags chauffeuring the bridesmaids!!!!!!!! :D :D :D
Gibbo 09-25-2005, 09:42 PM I would offer a yellow, but it's a wedding not a circus :)

Rev,
Get the SSR Comps and I'll offer my Ti Grey ;)
On the other hand.. if he doesn't mind two Ti Greys but with diff wheels... then it's shouldn't be a prob.... actually i still have my stockers.. Guess I could put them back on..
I'll even offer to polish both of our Ti Greys a few days before and QD on the day. So long as someone throws in a Latte in the morning :D
takahashi 09-25-2005, 11:57 PM Whatever you decided to do Steve... we want some pics on your big day.
Good luck...
BTW I think 2 grey sounds good - even 1 black and 2 grey look awesome.

Hehe, yet another reason to buy some new wheels huh? What are we going to do if I manage to sneak the cost of the Volk TE37 Mag's past 'er indoors?? You'll just have to 'upgrade' :p .
I told Steve it was a good excuse to have my car detailed (especially since it will have accquired some filth at the Nats). Assuming Steve wants 2 Ti Greys maybe we should book them in somewhere for a freshen up on the day, have that latte and plan precisely when the handbrake 180 should take place. ;) :D
BTW, since you came late, you're stuck with the bride and her Dad (sorry Steve, but driving the bridesmaids around sounds so much more appealing).

Ummm... err.. bugger eh? ;)
Rev, I've been doing quite a bit of detailing myself lately and I'd back myself to do the cars.. I maybe a bit slower that a pro, but i reckon I can get at least the same or better results.. :p :p :p
All I need is a clean car to start with and I'm happy do the polishing myself.. I have both a rotary and DA machine polishers and I find finishing off with Pinnacle Souveran Paste Wax give teh deepest wetest look.. a bit pricey.. but worth it imo..
btw.. are we required to drive them around as well..???
I had a black and a grey at my wedding (thanks Rx88er!) and it did not look too bad at all.
(I did have a 3rd silver bentley as the wedding car though.)

Well, I'm happy for you to do it if you really want to. I can even help with things like getting you a glass of water from time to time. ;) :p :D :D
But we're jumping the gun a bit - Steve already has a black car and he might not want 2 greys.
Hey Steve, wanna make a decision before LJ gets any more excited about giving me a polish?? :p :p :D
I'm also thinking we'll need to work out a way to fit the white ribbon to the front of the cars.

yer... good points...
I was thinking about having two Ti for a wedding and some how I don't think it will look all that good in the photos..
Grey is always a hard colour to make look good..
Pending on how other things work out..... will there be a show and shine comp at the nats??
If so, I think we should hook up and get your baby looking all that she can sometime over the next couple of weeks.. ;) Will most likely be the only way I'll be able to participate in the Nats... :(

The organisers talked about a show 'n shine but the program is already pretty tight. Friday's out because the interstaters will not have much of a chance to clean up and probably won't want to even look at their car once they get there after spending 10-15 hours in it ;) .
There'll be no time Saturday morning before scrutineering begins and after a day on the track most of them will be looking pretty grubby so Saturday arvo is also out.
Sunday morning, the interstaters will want to get moving.
So all in all, not much of a chance to do that kind of thing. Of course, if there's enough people who are keen and want to make some time to detail their car down there, let us know and we can re-visit it.
Having said all that, have absolutely no objection to you helping me out with cleaning mine up beforehand. PM me with your availability and we'll sort something out.
And think positive - you may just get there afterall. :)
Dave

Mate,
i would be stoked to have the two of you, if you guys are keen its a done deal as far as i am concerned.
i will provide the beers or lattes (for the ladies) and the polish ;) (not that kind :) ) and you guys can provide the entertainment by the sounds of it.
then i can just get my friend with the black one to give me the keys to his at the reception for some burnouts
but seriously, i would be very appreciative if you both can do it!
as far as driving around i have discuss this with Dave, but its basically just pick up the girls @ north manly @ approx 3.30pm then drive to Mona Vale golf club chill there for 40min then go get some pics ect (headland, avalon not too far) then back to the golf club and thats it. should be done by 6pm at the latest
thanks Steve
an idea springs to mind......
why dont we get our resident cruise organiser to orgainse a mini cruise for steve to celebrate his last "single" day ;)
from out last record, a minimum of 10 wont be a problem... ;)
i will be out, i will be somewhere up north celebrating my b'day (on the 4th) with the missus.... :p

Okay Steve, sounds good to me.
LJ, I live at Allambie Heights so I'm thinking if you get there at say1.00-1.30 that will give us a couple of hours to detail both cars and then we can motor down the hill to Manly and pick up the girls. I'll have a think about the best way to stick the white ribbon on.
PM me and I'll give you the address, etc. Obviously, if you have any other ideas, let me know.

Dave,
The way I polish.. it will take a little more than a couple of hours.. but hooking up at your place before sounds good. It'll give us a chance to do a quick detail. before we pick them up..
I was thinking if you could drop your baby off one night or day early that week (Sun PM or Mon am/pm) and I'll the full blown exterior treatment done on her. (Clay, swirl remove, glaze then wax plus tyre dress..) she'll be looking sweet all week and will only need a QD on Sat PM which will take about 30-45 mins
This will take a while, so prvided you are comfortable with it.. we can do a car swap.. or something..
Revolver 09-27-2005, 08:10 PM Will PM you. ;)

ZOOMBY 09-28-2005, 06:10 PM Did I hear some1 call my name :D :D :D , Although I don't mind organising cruises at all as you know. Ummm I will be organising a cruise mid-november for our RX8 club  . I could organise another one b4 that but I would not want to have numbers drop bcoz I have organised two cruises not that far apart, if you know what I mean  . If people are interested I could organise it but hence Y I would prefer just 1. Don't get me wrong, im all up for as many cruises as possible but like i said I would not want to reduce number or cars when it comes to organising our RX8 Club Cruise that month.
Let me know the general consensus :) .

Dude,
Steve had a preference for 2 blacks.. atm Revovler and I have volunteered our Ti Greys.
The big day is the 5th of Nov... Even though Steve has accepted our offer, I won't be offended if he gives me the flick in favor of his prefered blacks ;)
Even if my baby gets the flick... the exterior detail offer is still on the table..

You'll be glad to know I made it through the Nats with a straight car. I'm even fitting some extra bling to impress the bridesmaids ( :lol2: ).
Assuming we're all still good to go for the 5th.
LJ, sorry you couldn't make it on the weekend - you were missed. :(
Now, do you still want to set up a detailing session? If it's a hassle, I can get Zoomby to do it - he just loves the smell of car wax in the mornings :p: . Get in touch and let me know.

I'm easy... I won't be back in town until later this week... but how about Sun AM??
I plan on doing mine in Sat AM... and keeping her under cover as much as possible...
If you're coming around.. I'll tee it up so you get to meet Will (my driver on the day)
Spoke to Rotor7 last week and thougt it might be an idea for Will to meet you before hand at your place and you can both do a quick detail and get the ribbons sorted before you stroll down to the brides place.

Sounds good - PM your address and what time you want me there on Sunday morning. I'll bring some ribbon and we can work out how best to put it on. Let me know if there's anything you want me to bring product-wise. I've got some assorted Meguiar's gear.
Good idea to have Will come around to my place on the day. We'll talk time and place (and route) on Sunday. We should also agree upon clothing - might take the shine off if we hopped out in boardies and 'I am the Stig' shirts.
How come you're not going to drive yourself? You heading OS again?
Steve, can you PM me with the pick-up and destination address (and ETA's for both) and any route preference just so there are no misunderstandings. BTW - I take it a burnout on arrival would be out of order?? :FIREdevil

Will would absolutely wet himself if that was the order of the day... He's only 21 and already thinks he's the sheezneez because i said he could have my baby while I'm away. Plus he has a mate's 21st B'day on Sat PM after wedding duties.
Don't worry about products... my shed is a Megs showroom... I've taken to buying things in bulk... ie 4L containers.
I'm away from Wed-Sun, but not OS this time.... down in Melb..
It was a real bummer about the Nats.. couldn't stop thinking about it..

Oh c'mon Kall, I don't get out much you know! :aroused:
Just kidding - the only place they'll be safer is with the priest (hmm, come to think of it...no, I won't go there ;) ).
Revolver 11-03-2005, 07:38 PM Well, Will (driving LJ's car) and I are off to pick up the blushing bride and her (hopefully) hot bridesmaids tomorrow. ;)
Wish us luck - will post some piccies when I get them.
Hmm, you know how people clean their house for when the cleaners come? Well Zoomby is coming over to detail the car for me tomorrow morning and I have an overwhelming urge to clean it beforehand just so he doesn't have a fit over it's usual state... :uhh: :uhh: :D:

Can't be dirtier than mine was at the Nats... Just say to Zoomby, "it is much cleaner than xxup's car ... Hey Should be a quick job "... Never seen you lost for words.... :Eyecrazy:

Revolver 11-06-2005, 04:05 PM Mission accomplished albeit with a nasty scare for poor young Will.
Let's just say he got mildly accquainted with the brickwork adjacent to my garage. Looked worse than it really was but enough to give the poor bloke kittens. Offer still stands BTW LJ. Let me know how you go.
That drama aside the cars looked great and I'll hopefully get hold of the pro shots (and some video) upon the return of the happy couple from their honeymoon.
Some very restrained driving with the bridal party in the cars but I did manage a two gear Hymee redline salute upon our eventual departure. :p:
There was a black 8 there too with cool red MOTEC plates and VERY nice 19' BBS wheels (Eric, you should have been there to boost them ;) ) but, regrettably, it was an auto.

Er...Dave...that'd be Glenn Butcher's (see the M5 post below)...I think he's posted a better Wakefield time in that car than you..(or me) :spank: :cwm27:
(hmmm...thinking out aloud.....if Glenn's got all the MoTeC gear already...he'd be a prime candidate for a Hymee 4 port twin-screw upgrade.....those guys oughta talk  )

Thanks for offering Rev.. but it's one fo those things you just have to accept as a possibility when you let someone else drive your car.. And whose to say that the outcome would have been any different if I was driving.. :Wconfused
I'm just glad that it ended up working out ok for Steve.. When I first got the call from Will.. the way he sounded got me thinking that he may have totalled my baby...
Thanks for calming him down a bit.. cos I could just see his reaction over the phone...
The scratches aren't irrepairable.. and like I said, my baby is still undergoing repairs from a previous incident and I'm sure the repairers will just fix the new scratces at no cost.

LJ, how did you go with organising for them to get fixed again?

The groomsmen who were driving the car were under the impression that it did not have a MOTEC fitted.
And Timbo - it's not exactly as if I said the car was awful or anything - I was just disappointed in the choice of transmission in what otherwise looked to be a very nicely modded car. Each to their own on that one and I'm entitled to an opinion aren't I?
So spare me the :spank: crap.
And seeing as how I've now tracked a car twice in total it's hardly surprising most RX8 owners would beat me.

Glad to hear you're taking it so well LJ but I do feel partially responsible for asking him to nose it in there in the first place - it IS a nasty approach to a narrow gap and I should have known better.
Hope it all turns out okay for you.
