View Full Version : Need host for Port of Tacoma offload video. 3Rotor 06-21-2003, 06:07 PM I have a 4.2 MB file (2 1/2 miuntes) of raw uncut footage of our cars being off loaded at the Port of Tacoma today. If you can host this somewhere on the net let me know and I'll get the file to you. laferle 06-21-2003, 06:10 PM I can host until my bandwidth goes to hell... I have 6GB/mo limit so we're looking at probably a day at best. Anyone would be free to mirror it off of me. nate@laferle.com 3Rotor 06-21-2003, 06:21 PM I e-mailed it to you. Digisan 06-21-2003, 06:27 PM I will help. laferle, let me know when it's up, I will mirror it. D-san 3Rotor 06-21-2003, 06:31 PM I appreciate it. Just to let everyone know a couple of things: 1) I am not a professional photgrapher 2) I didn't do any editing 3) While taping, I was having to watch my 10 year old twin daughters (hence the conversation, etc) and carry on a conversation with the Port Operations Manager. laferle 06-21-2003, 06:38 PM No need for disclaimers; the video's great. It's uploading now; everything should be set in about 10 minutes or so. edit: i'm still trying... if anyone else can host, please do, as I'm questioning the reliability of my webhost at this time... right now i'm back to square one. 91vert 06-21-2003, 06:54 PM 3rotor.....you're awesome! I can't wait to see the footage. I want that video as soon as it is ready for download. So when do they start installing the options on the cars? Is there any certain logic or order to what cars they do first/last? I'm just curious.....I know you have been talking to the folks that are working on the cars, so I thought you might have asked. By the way.....what are all of the port installed items? The only thing I know of for sure is the stereo and any accessories. zoom44 06-21-2003, 06:59 PM Laferle please start a new thread in the Multimedia section when you post the link to the video. thanks for hosting the vid! good work 3rotor:D  laferle 06-21-2003, 07:06 PM At some point tonight, you might be able to find the video at http://www.laferle.com/rx8/offload.wmv I just switched webservers so the DNS might not propagate. Replace www.laferle.com with www37.dixiesys.com/~admin79/ if the above link doesn't work for you. And it's up! BlueAdept 06-21-2003, 07:21 PM If whoever has the file can upload it to my FTP server then it will be hosted along with all the other RX8 stuff I have collected... Hostname: ftp.fsck.co.uk Username: rx8 Password: mazda You will need to upload into the "incoming" directory, although I will move it into the main directory as soon as I can... PM me once you've uploaded. RotorMotor 06-21-2003, 07:32 PM For a US mirror you can upload it to ftp://www.jonathanbigelow.com No username/pasasword necessary. cueball 06-21-2003, 07:44 PM I'm not getting anything at the FTP site.:( RotorMotor 06-21-2003, 07:47 PM There's nothing uploaded there yet... I think everybody that has a copy of the file is offline  eccles 06-21-2003, 08:26 PM http://home.austin.rr.com/violet/eccles/RX-8/rx8offload.wmv Enjoy! brothervoodoo 06-21-2003, 08:36 PM Originally posted by eccles http://home.austin.rr.com/violet/eccles/RX-8/rx8offload.wmv Enjoy! Cool video, thanks! RXhusker 06-21-2003, 09:00 PM Great video! I hope that was my titanium shown! I thought that van was going to take a couple of the 8's out!! Now that would be hard to swallow -- waiting all this time and then having some port van driver total your car before it even gets off the dock. cueball 06-21-2003, 09:04 PM Great video.:) Even the raw footage looks great. RotorBoy 06-21-2003, 09:48 PM Awesome video!! 8_wannabe 06-21-2003, 10:07 PM I feel honored to be one of the first to see these cars finally arriving on our soil. Thnx for the vid and don't apologize for either the cinematography or audio. They add a touch of real-world ambience to the event. I had a big ol' grin on my face watching the cars go by. Server works great and I got quick, smooth video from it. I especially like the sound of these cars cruising by, you can just hear the muted hummmm of the rotor. Anyone remember the old Mazda ads when they first started selling in the states (back in the 70's maybe?) They had a little song "Piston engine goes doing doing doing, but a Mazda goes huummmmm." Boy, ain't it da truth. The sound alone adds enough distinction to this car to give it that gotta-have-it quality. The hum of that roatry does sound sweet huh? Good job 3rotor! Thanks for giving us a view of our 8's as they first touched US soil (or asphalt). knihc2008 06-21-2003, 10:38 PM oh god...such a beautiful sight. rx8's, one by one, noblely stepping onto US soil. like watching soldiers come back from home. an absolutely beautiful sight. B-Nez 06-21-2003, 10:40 PM Originally posted by BlueAdept Mirrored at:- ftp://rx8:mazda@ftp.fsck.co.uk/rx8offload.wmv Sweet, thanks Blue Adept. Have you had any luck getting that technical highlights ISO? Charleston 06-21-2003, 10:43 PM Man that must have been fun to see in person. The red and blue were very cool IMO. THe silver is a little washed out but that does not surprise me given the lighting and angles. Thanks for sharing the video and thanks for hosting the video! So who will be first to get theirs? So Cal or Washington? I am betting the Irvine area :) RXhusker 06-21-2003, 10:58 PM Originally posted by 91vert RXhusker....I think that Titanium one that cruised by better be mine! :D Great video. I had seen them in person several times as well as snaped a photo of one on the freeway, but the low speed footage with sound is awesome! BTW I tried to get some photos from Port Hueneme yesterday. The Mazda facility is inside the military base and we drove all around and could not see any cars close enough to photo. Talked to MP at the gate but he would not let us in. miata2rx8 06-22-2003, 10:01 AM got it on a mirror! incredible! zoom44 06-22-2003, 10:48 AM thanks for the video evryone ! great job indeed! Farsyde 06-22-2003, 12:10 PM 3rotor i think you need to change your alias to JamesBond RX-EVolved 06-22-2003, 08:56 PM WAS THAT WHITE THAT WENT BY, OR THE "WASHED OUT TIT? GREAT SHOOTIN 3ROTOR!!! brothervoodoo 06-22-2003, 09:52 PM Can't choose white in the states yet. Many of those cars passing by had the protective "wheet sheets" still on them.. desmo996 06-23-2003, 09:12 AM Maybe it's just me, but the windows look like they have a greenish tint. 3Rotor please confirm? Farsyde 06-23-2003, 09:47 AM Originally posted by desmo996 Maybe it's just me, but the windows look like they have a greenish tint. 3Rotor please confirm? um i think its been decided by fubar and a few others that they do not come to the US w/ any tint BlueAdept 06-23-2003, 09:48 AM Had to take down my FTP server temporarily due to network problems caused by heavy load... I need to upgrade the kernel and get traffic control and bandwidth management... this should be in place by tomorrow, and I'll bring it back up... Whoever just downloaded the TechHighlights.iso over 16 hours and 42 minutes... I was actually waiting for you to finish before shutting the server off!.. Toadman 06-23-2003, 02:55 PM Good job guys! I can think of no other imported car with such die-hard enthusuasts wanting to catch on tape the first production models on US Soil. *Sniff* BlueAdept 06-23-2003, 07:22 PM My FTP server is back up now, so come see if you can break it again... Interesting problem, my cable modem has a big buffer and obviously my broadband isn't as fast as ethernet so the FTP server was sending at warp speed until the buffer on the cable modem was full... hence any other connection like me browsing had to wait for the entire buffer to flush every time it wanted to send a packet... mind you, whoever was downloading got good performance, just everything else sucked. It's at:- ftp://rx8:mazda@ftp.fsck.co.uk/rx8offload.wmv There are a lot of other files there, but please concider uploading some stuff as well if you have somthing unusual... You'll likely need to find a third-party tool to convert it to quicktime or mpeg. oldguy 07-12-2003, 12:52 PM Originally posted by eccles You may be out of luck. .wmv is Windows Media Video - a Micro$oft proprietary format. I suspected it was a Gates vs Jobs issue. oldguy 07-12-2003, 01:29 PM Thanks for the confirmation of the .wmv file type origin. I found a Windows Media Player for OSX as a free download and can now view the footage. I saw a lot of red and blue but the shot of the titanium was worth the wait. Thanks for the preview. I hope it's only days before mine finally gets to the dealer. |
