If you could, would you?
If so, why and what sex?
Vote twice: one for yes/no, one for sex
smrx8 03-25-2005, 09:34 AM I would choose a male because females are a headache in this lifetime .
negative...I would not choose. Let Biology take it's course I say...at least in this area.
124Spider 03-25-2005, 10:32 AM Negative. The whole process, from fertilization (great fun :D ) to watching your child grow up and strike out on his or her own is an adventure--I think the greatest adventure a human being can have. A very important part of that adventure, IMO, is having no influence on the gender of the child--you get what comes out, and love him or her absolutely from that moment on.
I can't imagine an improvement in the experience my wife and I have had with our three children; choosing the gender of the child certainly would have lowered the magic.
Heck, if you can't love your child regardless of gender, you shouldn't be a parent....
theCATALYST 03-25-2005, 11:07 AM Yes I would choose. I have three children now, all boys. Been trying for a girl since the 2nd child. After the third boy, we gave up, too many kids, and still no daughter.
I dont believe you should always choose, but in cases where this is your last chance to get what you want, then you should.

I agree. After the first child, I want a choice. We have a friend that is opposite of your situation ... three girls. :)

Never said i was, or do i hope too i dont have anything against them. It just to hard now in days to care for them. theres lots os assholes out there who are out just to score on women. trust me i have lots of friends like that and i know i will not let her enjoy her life i be all over her 24 seven so to put my daughter through that i rather not have one of course i dont make the decision i just pray when the time comes i have a boy. I think you can give boys a little more freedom without the headaches .

Um....who are the "assholes out there who are out just to score on the women"?
Your son?
GotZoom, that's a big assumption.
But smrx8, if you instill your daughter with good values and morals you should trust your parental instinct. If you lock her up then she will be worse off.

I hope to teach him better, but then again it could be YOU

The point I was trying to make was that I assume that smrx8 would be a parent who would teach his son to respect women and not behave in a way that is less than honorable. If he can do this for his son, then you have to assume that there are other parents who would do the same.
Therefore, the number of "assholes" who are out there....just waiting to prey on his daughter....could be smaller than he anticipates.
And yes, about instilling values and morals, I agree 100%. I have two daughters. I taught them values and morals and never had to worry about them.
Of course, along with smrx8, had I had sons, I would have taught them the same thing.
GotZoom 03-25-2005, 12:27 PM I hope to teach him better, but then again it could be YOU
Lol...well, no worries there.
As I mention in my last post, not only did I raise my daughters with values and morals, my parents raised me with the same. That is the primary reason I taught mine the same.
Besides...I'm way too old......plus being happy married.....

I think you can give boys a little more freedom without the headaches .Wow.... Life is full of risks, whether one is male, female, child or adult. Raising girls is just as fun and rewarding, and just as fraught with heartache and risk, as raising boys. We've been blessed with both, and we are grateful every day for the opportunity given to us to help mold these precious people. They are all grown or almost grown now, and all happy, healthy and fully able to take care of themselves. You can never be certain that something bad won't happen, and raising children is more work than anyone ever can describe to you, but if we don't take risks we are denied much pleasure--and raising children has brought us more pleasure than anyone ever could describe to us.
RenesisRacer 03-25-2005, 12:36 PM I would sort of want to have a girl just so that when she's a teenager I could scare the piss out of the boys she dated :D
smrx8 03-25-2005, 12:38 PM I here you my girfriends and me always talk about it i guess i have to be a parent to understand better. i still think boys are a little easier to bring up .we always argue about it oh well :p

Saw it. Very nice. :D
I was inspired by the scene in one of the bad boys movies where Martin Lawrence is investigating the guy who's about to take his daughter out. :p
rotten42 03-27-2005, 10:57 PM if they are healthy...I don't care which sex they are.
