Tein S Springs and Installation

I'm thinking of getting some Tein S Springs and getting them installed and I was wondering everyone opinions on their Tein S Springs. Is the drop enough? Can you even tell its dropped? Any scraping issues over bumps? etc.

I will buy the springs from Rotary Extreme and then I asked them their quote for getting installed and they are charging $85 an hour, and he said it will be a 3 hour install, so installation/labor will be $250. In all, $380 for the springs/install/labor. I'm trying to find some other shops around San Jose here to get some price quotes and maybe they will match them on the install charges, but what is everyones thoughts/install costs for the springs? Also, if you could add before/after pictures, that would be great!

That install price seems a little high.

I paid 150 for the springs and 120 for the install. It took less than 2 hours.

I got the springs from ebay for way less than what rotary extreme sells it for. With proper spring compressors and a good amount of muscle it's not too hard of a install job install mine in total of 3-4 hours. Maybe moostafa29 can chime in his experience with s-techs

I got my s techs off ebay for $100 shipped and had them installed for $150 (3hrs). The install was a slightly higher than I'd have liked, but the shop had previous experience with 8s. The ride doesn't seem all that different from stock. Slightly firmer. I'm sure 19's would amplify the difference. As far as scraping, I haven't had any problems, but that might change... I have the MS kit coming next week

ZoomZoom, where in San Jose are you located? Maybe we could meet up and you'd like to help guide me through installing? I have never worked on cars before, so I'd like to try it. Anyways, let me know if you're intersted at all.

Dynamic, where on ebay did you get your springs for $100 shipped?

Actually I double checked and they were $110 shipped ($90+20 shipping). I guess its hit or miss. There was no reserve and I think only one other person bid. I wasn't planning on getting springs then but the price was right....

I went to Tech 3 located on Monterey road. They charged me 240 with alignment. Mine was the first RX8 they installed in. I had the Tein H specs installed. So far, no problems. I think I should've gotten the tein s specs. I would've like a little more of a drop in the front.

Yeah, that was me. I see your car once in a while at Bally's on Capitol. Pretty nice set up. I thought you were a viper from my rear view mirror at first.

I have the S Techs.. perfect drop IMO.. as far as install prices, it all depends on the area you live in... local shops here (IL) charge $75-$90/hr and calculate the install to run 2-3hrs.. but i found that West Coast shops charge less... thank goodness i'm moving out west soon. :D

eXtreme Import Performance quoted me $120 for the S-tech install. I asked them during last month's dyno day. They're in San Jose. I haven't taken the trip yet, but I've been thinking about doing it next Saturday or something.

btw, Stownz, do you have Greddy Exhaust on your Silver 8? I saw one parked at Denny's Capitol last Saturday. I haven't seen a Silver with Greddy in our meets yet.

Xyntax, maybe you want to get together and do it at the same time and they'll cut us a deal? Where in San Jose are they located?

P.S. Do you already have your Tein S-Tech springs? Because if you don't, I can pick them up for you at Rotary Extreme in Fremont, that's where I'm going to get mine, they are only $130.

I have the springs already. Getting it done together sounds like a plan. Let me give them a call and see if they can cut us a deal.

They are located at:
Extreme Imports

Alright, sounds good, I am free all this week for spring break so if you wanted we could meet up or something like that. Do you have any other mods to your car? You can check mine out at www.cardomain.com/id/silverrx8 $120 sounds like a good price itself, compared to the $250 that Rotary Extreme wants to charge me. If it is at that price or lower, I will not hessitate to do it, let me know, thanks.

Alright HardHitter, I just got off the phone with them and the guy told me that $120 was suppose to be for thsoe who showed up at our Dyno Day last month but he said he'll do it for $120 for us both. The thing is, we can't have it done at the same day. I'll be getting it installed this Saturday. So since you are free all week, you might wanna go there earlier then. Call this number right now 408-998-1693 and tell them that you are the other RX-8 that will be getting springs installed for $120. Make sure you schedule an appointment with them alright?

Xyntax, I just got off the phone with them. I have my appointment set for Thursday and I'm going tomorrow to buy my springs from Rotary Extreme. The guy said it will take around 3 hours or so. Thanks for the good deal, hopefully everything turns out well!

You're welcome. That's one of the perks on this forum, hookups!
