I pulled into a Walgreen's lot last night, parked, started to get out and then thought WTF is that parked next to me?

It was a Scion XB, first one I've seen, fugly as hell.

I guess my question is - does poverty have to be this dear?

I see them all the time by me. Every spoiled 17 year old has an XB or an SRT-4

My first thought at reading the title was...Congratulations

Yes they are fugly, and they're all over here, I see one at least every day

Er.... that's the first time you've seen an xB?

Wow. I must've seen a hundred by now. Then again when I had some friends visit from Oregon, they've never seen one before. The xB when you first look at it, your gut says "WHAT THE HELL?! HOW UGLY CAN A CAR GET?!" But I found (and I know other people that feel the same way) that the more you look at it and see it, the more you like it. I first thought it was one of the ugliest cars, now I actually like it and want one. :)

and spoiled? the xB is a 13K car... :-/ you have no idea what spoiled is. :D Trust me, having your parents buy you a 13K car is far from being spoiled in Southern California.

I think they look cool. They don't even sell Scion's in Canada :(

I don't know how they get "spoiled" with a $13k car that's pretty slow, roomy, and safe.

There are tons out here as well. They're ok for what they are @ the low price and 35mpg. Dressed up a little bit they look pretty good. It would make a good suv alternative sans 4x4. Swagman, they've been out for almost 2 years now. It might grow on you if you happen to see another one in 2006.

On a side note, I read they might be unveiling the new xb's replacement at this weeks ny auto show. That or an addition to the scion 3 car lineup.

They have been on sale here for a couple of years, but this was the first one I've seen up close. Slab sided Japanese econoboxes don't sell well here. I suspect Mazda won't sell many 5's here either.

Let me sum up that progression in 2 parts. First you can't stand it, then you buy it... hmmmmmmmm

They're unique. I wouldn't get one, but it makes a big statement for under 13k. How many other cars make you do a double take for that much?

let it go, it's a shoebox with an engine, not my thing but not my place to rag someone for having one, I for one am glad toyota gives people an option as most of their cars are pretty boring, at least the Scion line has some degree of personality.
