You're lucky you didn't find the spider in your car.. laid eggs, and thousands of spiders leftover. This is what happened to someone when they left their car in the garage for the winter... they hibernated or something, and by the time the guy got to his car in spring, spiderwebs all inside the car.

Wonder how you would handle something like that... how does someone clean that up? Detail shop?

We have a local guy who had something die in his car, or in his headlight or something like that. It's kinda funny to imagine going to the dealership, "Can you please get rid of that deaed spider? Thanks. :) "

To remove your spider, Morgan.. I think you need to remove the assembly and shake it out via the hole that the light bulb is in.

I have one in my taillight too. Must be part of the Type S package.

Actually, its pretty small so I may replace it with an aftermarket spider. Anyone have suggestions on good spider vendors? I want quality but not too expensive.

I came across this thread while searching for something else. I have had a spider in my taillight since August last year. Seeing a spider in the taillight rose some concerns. If a spider can get in what's to stop moisture. Air Force RX8's pic has confirmed this. This is obviously a common problem. Has anyone had any taillights short out from excessive moisture?

Howard--Welcome to the Club, and thank you for knowing how to use the search function! I'm impressed :)

I haven't had any major problems with the lights shorting out due to excessive moisture. Haven't heard of anybody else having that problem, either. If it did happen, though, I would hope that your dealer would understand and replace the bulbs for free. Not sure how they could remedy the problem otherwise the way the damn things are apparently designed (unless the water is meant to drain from the bottom).

Thanks for the welcome. I've actually been visiting the site for about 6 or 7 months now and only recently started to contribute. It's amazing the wealth of information that is on this site. You rarely have to ask a question since chances are someone has already asked it/done it/found out the hard way.

Just thought of something else... When I first saw this I thought it was a good idea but maybe not so much anymore. Have you noticed that when you open the trunk with water on it, when it falls to the back it is dropped in a channel that takes the water away instead of dumping it inside the trunk. Is this water channeled over the taillights? If there is an open point for some water to get in. It may be aiding the condensation problem some are seeing. ie. Air Force RX8
