Looks like mine will be in the 500+ range unless I put more money down.

Got my name on a preorder -$1000 msrp for GT Leather and nav.

I can still say no and get my $250 deposit back. Still can't decide yet.

Hmm $70 more monthy payments or keep my Celica 2000 GTS? Hard to decide.

hard decision?....the celica's a chick car...dump it

My payments will be around $300 on about a $13k balance, 4.75% loan, 48 mo.

Also, what kind of rates are you guys getting quoted for loans?

the 4.75% was from San Diego County Credit Union......i know there's a better rate out there...I can get a refi on my house for around 4.75!!!! Any 4% deals out there? And no, I don't mean on a 7 year loan either!!! 3-5 years is the most i want to be tied up.

I believe People First is offering "as low as" 3.79%.

The Celica is NOT a "chick car."

Yea 4.75 for 72 month loan at Peoplefirst. Its better then the 6.75 I have right now on the celica. I still have $14k to pay it off.

Trying to find someone who can give me $13-14k for it since it only has 16k miles on it.

Hey there fellow San Diegan! Yeah Credit Unions are are the way to go from what I hear.

$15k down and I'm guessing $300/month but I can pay up to $600 if I wanted to get payments done sooner.

BTW, norats... who did you order your 8 from. Maybe when the car comes out all the SD board members can have a meet in La Jolla or some nice spot to take some pix. Later. :D

no offense but i agree...the Celica is definitely a chick car, much like the '95-'99 Eclipse RS/GS was a chick car (GS-T and GSX were not, however)...and by chick car i mean that most of the people that drive them are chicks...

btw, i have a friend that bought a G35 and got 3.9% from some government institution...I'll definitely need to ask him for that number again

mine are gonna be in the 400 range it depends on how much i've accumulated for a down payment when i get mine, i'm hoping to get it down to the mid-300's though

I'm gonna be paying all cash, so no monthly payments. It'll be mine, mine, mine. :p

I'm gonna try to do a fleet order too (invoice + $200 or so). It's super-easy and worked great for my previous cars, and I know that I can do it for a Mazda6, so I'm hoping it works for rx8 as well.

If you think that it's OK to describe a car by the sex of the people who drive it... then why stop there? How about race?

no offense

There will be no "fleet order" pricing nor any S Pricing from Mazda for quite some time. That typs of priciing might be available in the future when all the demand has been met. I wouldn't hold my breath.

oh, - on topic:

I'm hoping my monthly payment will be within the $250/month range for 60 months (prob pay it off sooner like my last car).

18-20k down, 5.99 from my credit union

As another San Diegan, I'll have to also concur that Credit Unions are the way to go. I got 4.99% preapproval for a 6-year loan (forgot to ask for a 5 or 4 year loan), but I hear that Mission Federal has the best auto loan rates around, if you want to check them out.

boowana, I respect your comment, but are you a fleet manager? While I think that you might be correct that fleet orders won't be available for a while, I'm still going to go directly to all the fleet managers in the area and see what's up. I'd *have* to hear it from the fleet manager, though, not the sales manager.

TheBeav, as to your question: To do a fleet order, simply call up the dealership and ask for the fleet manager (NOT the sales manager) and make an appointment. You'll then sit with him and choose all your options, you'll put down a deposit (maybe $500), and you'll agree to pay invoice + destination + taxes/fees + $200-$300 for the fleet manager's work. Then hopefully you'll get a call from the fleet manager in 4-12 weeks saying your car is ready to be picked up.

I have done and seen this done several times, and it is an awesome way to purchase if you want to save money and can wait a few weeks.

Norats: all is forgiven! :)

I just feel bad about my poor 2k Celi (RIP) - hence the reason why I'm in the market for a new car.

I am eligible for a 4.9% - 48month loan from NFCU. Of course it will be paid in 30 months or less.

Maybe this is the best rate yet, through Northrop Grumman Federal Credit Union (sorry, you gotta be a NG employee to qualify.) Their lowest rate is 4.75% (20% down, 3 year) but if you have their credit card, direct deposit and checking account you will get 1 point off that, for a rate of 3.75% www.norgrumfcu.org.

Also, the same credit union will negotiate fleet buys on behalf of their customers. Their advantage is they can shop as wide a region as you want (I live in SD; they found a deal for me in LA on a Acura RSX that saved me lots.) Also, they have more leverage cuz the fleet sales mgr wants to keep them coming back where in individual is not so likely to. I've seen many credit unions that will do this; just ask.

My credit union has a sliding scale depending upon how long you want the loan for:

2 years = 2.9
3 years = 3.9
4 years = 4.9
5 years = 5.9
6 years = 6.9

(see a pattern?) ;)

Norats: Me? Lucky? At least you got the book & I didn't b/c I ordered mine in May from the dealer allotment. :(

Talked to my salesman recently and he told me many, many people are just getting interested in the 8. He's had to turn many away (unless they wanted to wait). The color many are asking for: Winning Blue. I hope it doesn't become TOO common.

Sounds good to me. I prefer the highway 18 going up to big bear. But Julian will do! We can do a San Diego version of JSG, Yuhki, and EAST MOONs trip to the mountain. :D
