hey guys, I have a BBlack 8. I would like to get some rims pretty soon. I am think black or gunmetal with a silver lip (leaning more twords the black). I'm not sure about what size to get. The stock 8 comes with 18" rims, but those look a little small and I'm thinking about 19's. Opinions? I really like the Passion5's from Tenzo R (www.tenzoracingsports.com) but they only come in 18"s. What do you tihnk will look better 18's or 19s? Also, if anyone knows of some good sites that sell a majority of reasonably priced rims let me know! Thanks everyone!

Nice rims, but be careful they are only 18" x 7.5" The standard RX8 rim is 18" x 8". For performance you really don't want to go to a narrower rim. If it is purely for looks you might be OK. I actually got 19" rims on my car, & I dropped it about 1/2." If you are looking for black rims & want ultra lightweight units you should look at the SSR Competitions that they sell at tire rack. Over 6 lbs. lighter than the stock rim & black. If you are looking for performance stay with 18" rims, if you want looks the 19" might be better.

going to a 7.5 is really that much of diff?

as in you can really feel it ?

What diff is there if i goto a 18x7.5 wheel but i am still using the stock 225 tires...
isnt there exacly the same amount of tires on the road?

i'd go for gunmetal grey with polished dish on a b blk 8, i have same colour combo for my 8. i reckon blk with polished dish would be too much ;)

I will keep it simple and have a 5 spoke Enkei. Please call me being a simple man ;)

I love gold wheel on black car rather than gun metal... there will be a gewwww factor in it.

Gun metal is nice but really depend on design. If you turn the stock design into gun metal then I will say no.

One of my neighbor's kids has black rims on his riced-out black Civic. I think they look terrible. Obviously, this is just my personal opinion and preference, but I'm not at all impressed with the look of those wheels on the car. They look almost dirty, even right after he's washed it.

Just an alternative opinion,
Bill

It doesn't have much to do with the contact patch, as a 225 will fit on a 7.5" rim, as much as the aspect ratio. It pulls the tire in a bit more (narrower vs. wider) making the neck of the tire narrower. This will affect the handling.

i have a deal to goto a set of 18x7.5 wheels.......now that you've mentioned this....is it really so bad of an idea that it will really make my handling suck? or is it just not really noticeable by a normal driver like moi ?

It won't make your handling suffer that badly. It will hardly be noticeable in normal daily driving. It has more to do if you out to the track. It is like going to a staggered setup (long thread on this). Hardly noticeable in daily driving, but when you go out to the track & push your car that is when changes are noticeable. If you never plan to track your car than you are fine. If it is for show & not go than 7.5" is fine. If you are planning to track this car on a consistent basis then I would recommend against it. It's when you are pushing it past 8/10ths that you notice things about the car (& the changes you make).

If I did get 19" rims, what would be best to get 19x8.5 or 19x9's?
