just bought a "slightly used -5K" set of wheels off another owner who changed to 19's...
Im cleaning them up good and waxing before mounting -- I removed the stick on weights cause Im gonna rebalance them anyway.
what can I use to get the "gunk" off left behind by the weights without damaging the wheels?

I used a plastic scrapper, Dawn, and elbow grease. It took awhile, but it came off.

windshield washer concentrate or brake cleaner. that's what i use at work for sticky weight adhesive.

Or Goo Gone/WD-40 both work great on adhesives. Did you take out the TPMS? That is what the stick-ons are there to balance. The others are typical crimp-on weights...

no - they're just apart.....may swap out tires, etc. and just redo weights when rebalancing
thanks for the tips

bumpety bump!
Taking wheels off tomorrow to touch up calipers and I'll be trying to get this glue off while I'm at it.
Figured I'd bump in case others hate the glue as much as I do. (just got new tires on Friday)

oh yeah, freaking loads of fun... :banghead:
I'm going to try the goo gone method and see how that goes.

I use 3M Adhesive and Wax Remover.
Acetone back when I worked at a tire shop, but I hated breathing that stuff. I'm probably stupider because of it.
