And yea the job's treatin me okay... but it's more a fact that I'm refusing to save now and spending all my money.

I have enough for the car's down payment/closing costs, insurance, and a little bit left that I've saved after that... and I'm buying all the crap I want.

I also bought over $150 in car care accessories from Zaino and Aquapel as well as other things :)

I can't tell time on those pieces of crap.

One stud for the 12 and no numbers. I got a watch with class.. Movado is so 'bling bling' and it's not even a well made watch.

It's just the name you're buying, not the craftsmanship. Rolex however, is worth the money you pay because their craftsmanship is superb as well as their reputation.

I'd have bought a rolex (this is similar price range) but I am not a fan of their styling.. its too much for submariners and boaters... I just wanted simple, understated, classy and has swiss movement with good quality construction.

This is the best I could find after looking for 3 months.

Man, I love the Movado. I bought the SC model 2 years ago, with the black face. Sure, I have no idea what time it is, that's what I use my cell phone for, but it's so simple yet so classy looking. Plus it matches with anything I wear.

Movado Museum, Black/gold very classy
Gucci, Black/gold nice as well.
I also own about 30 other watches everything from Swatches to Fossils to Skagen, Movado, Gucci etc. They are all nice in their own way.

Herc that watch is very nice, looks a little big for me though. I do agree with your Rolex comment as well.

Now I just need the two Rotary watches.

*scoff* it's not about the equipment, it's how you use it :P

anyways, you got a silver watch??? ouch, scratchy scratchy... my blue-collar (by the standards of everyone in this thread, at least) Wenger Alpina, with a nice fat quartz lens, and stainless steel case, metal links is my kind of ticket... at the right price too.... quartz movement, but then again, i like to use mine to tell time :p

Herc, I've got a Dremel bit that looks like the winder on that watch! :p

I'm more of a pilot watch guy - just bought a Citizen Skyhawk Titanium a couple of months ago. I prefer the analog face, but need the digital functions (alarms, etc.). Lots of techno-nerd functions to entertain the engineer in me, but I was disappointed to realize that I can do the slide-rule bezel type calculations quicker in my head than I can on the slide rule! I tend more towards thinking of the TAG Kirium F1 as the ideal watch, but as of yet they don't have it in a Titanium case (and the main factor is that the price is way out of my league... ;) )

Gordon

Well, I haven't got a picture, but I do have an Ebel 1911 watch with a stunning blue face. Batons at the 12 positions and apparently the only automatic of its type as the manufacturers made a mistake in the literature, so when I ordered the non-existent option they made one for me! Now that's service, although it did cost a lot.

To this day not a scratch on the sapphire glass. Great stuff:D

Well since everyone is posting pics of there watches here is mine.
It is a Mondaine S class. The Sapphire crystal has yet to get a scratch and I am pretty ruff on my wathces.

Nothing flashy, just functional Swiss watch. The styling may be quetionable, but I like it. Besides it was given to me as a gift. A $400 watch for free, no complaining here.

I actually had to buy a thing to keep them all wound and ready...

actually, it is pretty smart to have those. keeps the watches wound and you don't have to worry about the movement or its gears sticking from lack of use.

Allright Herc, I feel OK to admit that I too am a watch enthusiast. I only seek mechanical movements, preferably automatic movements. Not yet getting Swiss pieces, but Japanese and German pieces. Have recently acquired Elysee, CTI, Fossil Auto, Seiko in yellow. Have a Russian autowatch with navy insignia. Was looking at the Russian watches with "better" swiss movements, but stayed away based on my limited experience. The watch you purchased seems quite a step above the typical Russian piece. Can you tell me the source of the watch?

Enjoy your "timepiece".

The Poljot brand is the most famous watchmaker in Russia... Gorbechav had one custom made for him, they were comissioned to be the first watches that Russians wore in space... lots of prestige.

They use Swiss machinery and thus, swiss movements. My watch is a wind-up but that's not too bad.... it's every day after work I wind it.

The rest are only Armani? :p I believe Franck Muller's annual output is less than Piaget's, although there isn't much history there, and his watches may have fallen a bit out of favour as of late. But Patek Phillipe has an annual output similiar to Piaget's, and they have more mechanical output and much better styling...

Some Pateks have been known to increase in value 1000 per cent within a few years... pretty solid investment.

Just throwin' a bit gas on the fire... :D

Well, I've just got a POLAR heart rate monitor. (along with all the other functions it does happen to have time and date). It's kind of klunky, but hey who else can look at their wrist and know the HR, speed, distance, altitude, elevation gain, temperature, cals burned, lap time, etc. Plus I don't have to wind it.

Nice watch Herc, but it's still got that damn annoying problem that you have to reset the date every other month.

are any of you familar with Blancpain timepieces? they are the oldest watch makers in the world, older even than Patek Phillippe, but went out of business until a patek partner purchesed the rights and sent them on their way.

Seems to be a very, very nice watch, which of course it is lol

i've got a pulsar. It glows in the dark for 6 hours. It has 2 hands and a second hand that spins backwards. It's got a digi display w/ date alarm and stopwatch. It also has Engraved divisions every 10 mins so people looking over my shoulder think it's cool.

I've also been known to own a few Timex (damn that's quality) and in my earlier years a few happy meal watchs. Can't beat that!!

This is my Luminox Stealth. It is modelled on the old military spec 'Marathon' army watches, with some great improvements-

Titium vials on the three hands glow brightly for the next 23 years, you can read by their light. Hour markers also made of green pyrex glass/tritium, 12 o'clock is orange.

Case and band is anodised black stainless steel, double locking clasp, 'glass' is sapphire and very hard, coated inside and out with anti-reflective treatment.

Movement is quartz, with 10 year battery. Waterproof to 200 metres ( thats probably enough for me!)

And it looks good......
