The next group of RX8's has left Japan in large numbers. Report now shows 13 more of my RX's in ON WATER status.

Damn you guys with VIN Numbers!! I went to my dealer to check on mine. No luck so far. I guess they are building the GT package first as an intelligent method of advertising the RX8. Unfortunately I ordered the lighter SP version. The anticipation is killing me.

FYI to those of you asking for VIN inquiries, this information is from Mazda but may not be up to date. For example, a vehicle listed as "Not Shipped" may actually be on the water right now and on the way to the port. Those VIN inquiries are primarily useful only when the vehicle is close to arriving at the port or is already there. The only way to find out for sure if your vehicle is on water is to talk to the dealer you're getting the car from, they're the only ones who can run inbound lists for their vehicles. The inbound lists will show whether a car is on water or not, along with an estimated dealership arrival date. I just wanted to clear that up before I got deluged with VIN inquiry requests, and before people got pissed off at their dealers who said their cars were on water when the inquiry says they haven't shipped.

All right, I'm going to start sounding like an ass for asking the same or similiar questions in multiple posts, but here it goes anyway. This new "on water" status for RX-8's or new boat, are they a part of the 2nd allotment? Any more details on this next boat?

Of the 13 new RX's that are showing ON WATER, the last Vin ends in 3313. Most are 1st allocation cars, a few 2nd allocation and one 3rd allocation. This one was for my wife and wasn't supposed to be built until July production. Looks like they are trying to build all presolds first if there is production capacity.

The Vin you posted is showing to be in transit with the same codes as my first group. However the Vin you listed is the Vin that Mazda sent everyone on the email. Are you sure thats your correct Vin?
Also, I can pull any of your Vins. I'm here late today and I can do 10 at a time. So when there is a group I'll run them and post the results.
Hope the Vin you gave me is yours, Shows it being a red/black touring pkg.

Ran the Vins posted so far and none were showing in transit yet in the veh warranty screen. However, none of the units in my inventory that just went to ON WATER status are showing in transit in that screen either. It should be updated tommorrow so I'll keep track of the #'s and run them tommorrow and see if there is any change. I think any Vin lower than 3313 will show on water when it is updated.

I don't have anything sitting at port in cal or wash so I don't know if the RX8 will show 30 when the boat docks. The cars show 46 when they are released to the trucking and we start paying the floor plan expense. Mazda loves it when it goes to 46! The cars that i have that show 30 are in Dallas.

the car was red to begain with and we sat at his computer and changed color and options,after he submited it it took about 5 minutes and updated his sytem to blue ,gt1,accent package.i guess will see what color it is when it gets here.if it is red that well be o.k. ill just make em throw in those other assy for free.

I think this lookup is way behind.....I have some cars that are on the water in which i can see on my inventory printout and when i do a vin lookup is says its not shipped......I might just be blind and looking up the vins in the wrong spot....

Mine being the '2626' VIN. But if what you're saying is right, there still might be hope because mine is headed for the east coast. Is there any info on when the east coast boat will take off?

The 2 Vins that were showing a 10 status were both bound for Port Jersey. I can't get any info on Eastbound boats. Of the Vins that were a 20 status, 1 was bound for Port Jersey, 1 to Port Jacksonville and 1 to Port Honolulu. The Jersey & Jacksonville cars had very low Vins so they were probably on the first boats to the East Coast. Sorry I can't be of any more help to you East Coasters.

I know I didn't make the first boat to Jacksonville but will be on the second. If you get a chance run JM1FE173340101850 to see if status has changed. Then we willl know if the East Coast ship has left Japan.

Its still showing a 10 status. The warranty screen that I can access Vins other than my own has not been updated yet. I'll run the East Coast Vins again tommorrow and see if anything changes. Its amazing in this day of computers that updates cannot be made instantly!

I know what you mean rxtreme. Its driving me nuts that a second west coast ship has left but nothing to the east coast. I guess they are distributing more via west coast ports than the East. At this point I'm not expecting to see its shipped until next week or the week after. I would say the upside is if their were any problems with the US cars they would be able to fix them. However that can't happen because I car has been sitting in the salt air for the last 20 days.

Why do you believe it will be such a long wait between the west coast bound and east coast bound boats? I would think only a couple of days seperation at most and really I wonder why there is any seperation at all. I mean, this second shipment is still some 1st allocation, some second allocation, and maybe some third alocation cars. These boats should be going out loaded to the max with RX-8's with still more waiting to be shipped after it leaves the Japanese port. Just a theory, but it seems to be accurate by what I've heard.

Budaman, ifubar, either of you checked the status on that east coast boat yet (today). Inquiring minds want to know.

I know EXACTLY how you feel. I'm "#1842", showing the same status.

Extremely frustrating. Especially when I see VIN's in the 2000 and 3000 range showning "in-transit". It's got to be the East Coast thing.

I'm surprised too. I made my sentiments known on the other thread that I didn't think it was fair that Mazda would ship out a second production of cars (higher VINS) all to the West coast before shipping out the East Coast cars that have been sitting since the end of May. You may be right about Mazda being a slave to the shipping company. That could explain it, but none-the-less, I'm pretty pissed at Mazda anyways for the ordeal.

I'm with y'all. My VIN is 1553, was built on 28 May. I didn't inquire about mine, and just hoped it was on that first boat to Jax. I found out yesterday that mine, too, is sitting at dock in Japan. What a drag...As consolation I ordered my stuff from Zaino this morning.

Well the 28th was a Wednesday, I wonder how much Sake is consumed in the middle of the week. When I was their we went out every night but then what else was their to do. I couldn't understand what was on TV.

My last five digits are 01850. If yours also begins with a zero we may have been pretty close. Still we are on different days. I also wonder if they run the line 24hr a day. BMW here runs 24hr when they are in full production. Yours could have been finished at 11:58 and mine at 12:02 the next day who knows.

When my car gets in I will look for a Sake glass lying around.

It is complete BS that our high 1000's VINs sit around in Hiroshima while VINs 2000 and 3000s are on boats heading for CALI. BS! I just started a thread about this in our regional SE section if anyone wants to chime in.
