I am confused by the following statement at RX8Garage.net

"You can choose . With Wireing harness and oem amber lamp. sold as a set Left and Right. Or with Stealth 194 lamps and no Harness."

Does a harness need to be purchased separate if I go with the Stealth 194s? What is the difference between the two options? What is the need for a wiring harness?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I plan on purchasing today, but am confused which route to take.

I was confused by that statement as well, so I dont have an answer for you.

However, you may get a faster response by posting this in teh Mazdaparts forum (name change from RX8garage.com), or PM Thew, the owner of the site and board regular.

I haven't looked at how thew is bundling his sidmarkers but you don't need the wiring harness at all... ever... because you can use the current harness you have now. The 194 bulbs will fit fine with the current harness, all you need are the sidemarkers to replace your current orange.

EDIT: Okay, I took a look at it. He is selling a complete set which includes the harness, amber bulbs and sidemarkers. You will not need the amber bulbs or the oem harness because you have those already.

In the second option; he is adding STEALTH bulbs, which are silver in appearance but glow amber at night.

The best choice (for some) would be to buy only the sidemarkers if you don't want STEALTH bulbs... (I don't see that as an option).
