No, my b/f is thinking about an 8, I like them very much just don't know alot about them, I haven't ever seen one perform, I hear alot of mixed things

Your best bet would be to go to a dealership. I test drove mine four times. I know it's mine because it was the only base model Briliant Black RX-8 on the lot with an L shaped scratch in the door jamb. :D

I put on 58 miles before I even owned her!! Be careful, they're addictive.

BTW, tibby's aren't all bad, a buddy of mine has one and he loves it. You will notice a definate difference in performance when under "spirited driving" conditions. :)

The Tibby is a nice car, added plus was the performance, it really catches people of guard. me likeing to race and all I give alot of people a run for their money when they don't expect it, it's a fun car. thanks for the info I will let him know

His choices are between 2006 Eclipse, Mazda 6, Mazda RX8, and outside shot at a Maxima. I want him to get the Mada 6 but wouldn't be mad if he got the eclipse, that's look like it's going to be a very nice car :)

The Eclipse?! It's been an ugly looking POS for the past 10 years at least, and the upcoming redesign, while different, was still better looking in the concept stages than it will actually look in the pending production phase.

My brother has a Mazda6. Smooth ride, a lot of interior space, but it feels heavy when he drives it. Plus, it's fwd and heavier than an 8. The Maxima, I believe has 270hp. Except for looks, I'd be giving that more of the inside track than the Eclipse.

Just my thoughts.

That's an odd mix of vehicle choices (and prices)... I think if you are going Maxima, there are other options in the sedan arena... but I guess it's a matter of personal preference.

yeah, I honestly wish he had a type of car in mind, then move from there, his choices vary but I guess it's smart, you never want to end up is something then regret it. I'm a big fan of the Mazda 6, always have been :)

I'm with you 100%, the current model of the Eclipse, to me isn't the best car, some of them are made to look nice, BUT the new Eclipse that is coming looks and sounds like a little beast. I haven't heard to much bad stuff about them, reminds me of a 350z

Got a Bronze 2004 for the wife, she loves it. Good motor, handled great, I thought, untill she got me the 8 for x-mas.

It does come with a couple of flaws, front tire feather, just like the Z problem, and interior quality not as good as her 2000 Maxima.

Put it on the Hwy, turn on the radar detector-it averges 26-28mpg, with AC, trunk loaded, big dog in the back!!

Well I can't comment too much on the newer Eclipses.. however I traded in my old '93 Eagle Talon (Eclipse with Jeeps logo on the outside) for my new RX8. It was a good car for the last 12 years.. unfortunatly it had a whopping 98 horsepower (Don't laugh! :p ) The only major flaw mechanically was the design of the alternator and it's positioning within the engine without any sort of shield :( 1 oil leak and bye bye alt.. went through 3.

Also a solid little car, had a Publix 18 wheeler drive right over mine... with me in it! and not a scratch on me.

While even the new ones are no where near the performance of the RX8s, If I was looking for a sporty 'looking' car, decent gas milage, warranty and a proven track record.. the eclipse actually isn't a bad choice...

But no zoom-zoom!! :cool:

Actually back then I kinda liked the low HP... since it was under 100hp, the insurance didn't classify it as a sports car and thus lower insurance. It was pretty light so it moved ok... nothing like the newer cars today, and thankfully I only drove it in Florida where I didn't have to worry about any major hills :)
It was also the only car I could afford back then, was my first "new" car.
