what are the pros and cons to fitting a wider tire (245) to the OEM wheels, anything i should consider, or should i stick to 225-45 sized tires?

Feras 03-09-2005, 03:32 PM oh im asking because im considering getting eagle f1's for the spring and they come in 225-40, 245-40, and 245-45 and im confused as to which to get. Aoshi Shinomori 03-09-2005, 03:34 PM ^^^ Feras is a post whore :p You do know where the edit button is, right? :D From what I know it shouldn't be too big of a deal. My brother did something similar on his car and hasn't had any problems thus far. If you cna't get a good answer here, I'd say you should take a ride down to your dealer, or the local autobody shop or whatever and get their opinion. Fanman 03-09-2005, 03:49 PM Pros : More contact patch (40 mm, about 1 1/2 inch more rubber on the road), more aggresive rubber (Max performance vs. UHP tire/Stickier rubber), rim protector (new tires fill the wheel better & may come with real rim protectors) Cons : Possibly stiffer ride (though my 30/35 series 19" Toyos seem to run smoother than my stocktires !), possible higher weight of the tire (though my 265/30/19's & 235/35/19 Toyo's weigh less than the stock RE040's). |
