I noticed that my late 2004 had a VIN ending in 10404xx while I have seen 2005's ending as low as 10409xx. Does anyone know what the actual first 2005 VIN is?

I am happy to find out that my RX-8 is within the 500 or so produced. Basically an 05 with an 04 badge. :)

Unless, of course, they were using whatever leftover parts they had laying around the factory to produce it. :eek:

Regardless, it looks like Mazda produced just over 40k cars for the U.S. market in the 2004 model year.

Go to the site below to decipher the VIN. The model year of the vehicle precedes the 6-digit unit number by 2 digits, so there will be a 5 in position 10 for the '05's. Sorry to burst your bubble. :D

Sorry to burst your bubble. :DNo bubble to burst. I know mine's an '04 if that's what you mean. But I can't imagine it's much different than the first '05's that rolled off the line 500 cars later. That's all I'm blabbing about.
