Any former y100 listeners in Philly pissed off they changed the radio format? For those non Philadelphians Y100 .. was the only alternative rock radio station in Philly with great music.. (played some bands you wouldn't hear on any other radio station).. Then after 12 years they changed their format to hip hop/rap and r&B and fired all their current djs. We already have like 5 hip hop stations here in philly, we don't need another one.. Sorry just venting...

Every once in a while....MMR is my primary station followed by YSP, but I hate howard stern so I can't listen to ysp in the morning. The Preston & Steve show from Y100 is coming over to WMMR in the future, but I think they can't yet due to some kinda non-compete contract they signed. I don't see how they could enforce that if they were fired though. My girlfriend was really pissed off about it when she found out.

Y100rocks.com started an online petition and they have 30,000 plus signatures on it so far

I think it was a really stupid decision on their part to change the entire station to rap, because: all they did was move an existing rap station to 100.3 FM, and leave the other one directing people over to the new station, and they alienated a large group of people.

I knew Preston & Steve were leaving Y100, but I figured the station would go right on playing altrock. I couldnt believe it when I turned on the radio & heard rap coming from my former favorite station on Fri morning. Time to get that Sirius put in the 8, I guess. That, & lots of more downloads from iTunes.

Wow, they got you too on this trend. Rock stations across this cuontry is beginning to dissolve into other forms. Ours here became Mexican stations. In Texas, theirs also dissolved into Mexican stations. Now this, hiphop stations.

What a sad direction :(

I listen to B101 :)

Nah - I actually listen to YSP & MMR, but it was nice to know Y100 was there if I wanted to listen to alternative music. Read the article in the Inquirer today - looks like the petitition is a complete waste of time. What has happened to radio and music in general. It is like they have given up and nothing but garbage is put on the air anymore.

Also listen to WFAN in NY when I can. Best sports radio around - much better than Philly sports radio.

You scared me with the B101, dag. Thought we'd have to terminate our friendship! No elevator music in the 8!

yeah...i used to listen to y100 every day before i got an ipod adapter for my f150. While the music at times wasn't really up my alley, it was a nice alternative to rap and older rock. Preston and Steve, though. They were good compared to most dj's that i've heard. Gonna miss it.

HFS in metro DC also has vanished, and turned Spanish. I just better not go back to Atlanta and find that 99X has gone away....

Here 94.9 Zeta out of Miami has switched from rock/alternative to spanish rap and dance reggae. That leaves us with only one rock station in south florida on the east side, and they SUCK!! I think Companies like Infinity and Clear Channel are making big mistakes especially with satellite growing in popularity. I think it'll be satellite radio time for me soon.

I think clear channel is run by satan. I love whenever you buy anything from ticketmaster(clearchannel entertainment) there's an 8 dollar service fee per ticket, on top of the already outrageous price. FU Clear Channel

That was my thought exactly when I heard the change on Friday morning. By Saturday I had two XM receivers. The one that came with my wife's new Honda Element, and a Delphi Roady 2. Satellite radio rocks!

I'll listen to Preston and Steve when they start on MMR if for no other reason than the fact that Steve Morrison made me laugh like ass most mornings on Y100. Preston Elliot is kind of a jackass though, so I can take or leave him.

When I lived in DE I always thought to myself, "Wow Philly's 100.3 is so much better than New York’s." Sorry to hear you have to suffer. Reminds me of when Q104.3 went from modern rock and alternative to slow rock. The changed happened overnight and no one said a word. I hate how they do that, why don't they tell you they are changing formats? Do they think people will tune in expecting to hear one thing, and decide they like the complete opposite?
