TownDrunk 03-01-2005, 01:13 PM Interesting poll. I picked the 3, but not necessarily because I like it. I just think it has more potential. Toyota seems to be following the same grandma/grandpa overall styling direction with the IS as it has with it's other cars. The front reminds me of a cross between a Camry and the new Avalon.
So, I pick the lesser of the two evils in this case, but I think the back of the 3 could have been a bit better. OK, the front too.

Gambit 03-02-2005, 09:27 AM Info on IS
U.S. spec IS models will all be powered by Toyota's new direct-injection gasoline V-6s. The 2.5-liter version delivers 204 horsepower (DIN), while the 3.5-liter will have about 280 horsepower. A new six-speed automatic transmission featuring sequential shift control will be standard. The IS will also be available with the VDIM integrated vehicle dynamics management system featured on the new GS, adaptive cruise control, and Toyota's radar controlled Pre-Crash Safety system. No fewer than 10 airbags are standard. And this time, the IS moniker will be spread across a full range of vehicles, including a convertible, to truly compete with the 3 Series
Gambit 03-02-2005, 09:43 AM This is what I found for the 3 Series
The first two versions of the new 3 Series to go on sale in the U.S. will be the 325i and 330i sedans. Despite the badges, each is powered by a 3.0-liter version of BMW's all-new lightweight N52 inline-six-cylinder engine. The difference is the version in the 325i delivers 215 hp and 185 lb-ft of torque, while the 330i version has 255 hp and 220 lb-ft, thanks to a new three-stage variable induction system and remapped engine management computer. The new 3 Series, codenamed E90, is bigger outside and roomier inside than the current model, but still sporty to drive. The good news is both iDrive and the Active Steering will be optional across the range. Base price for the 330i is expected to start at about $37,500

That is wrong.
The 325i is 2,5 litre.
There are another new 2,5 litre in thje BMW range now.
That is a 523i with 177 hp(DIN).
I'm not sure if there will be a 323i...
All engines comes with valvetronic.
globi 03-02-2005, 11:36 AM 335d(3,0,sequential twinturbo,272 hp,560nm)
That torque sounds like fun.
A 3.5L 280 HP for the IS? That is sick. They better make it look good.
CaptainZoom 03-02-2005, 11:54 AM That torque sounds like fun.
That engine is available in the 5-series.
0-62mph in 6,6 seconds and extreme mpg..
In track tests it's shown to be faster than the 545i..
