I just received a quote from State Farm. My insurance will actually go down from $410 per 6 months to $345! Needless to say, this was MUCH better than expected.

BTW, I would be replacing my 2002 RSX Type S.

What do they group the Rx-8 with? 4 doors or 2drs?

Wow, that's a pretty significant drop for new car that costs considerably more. I guess they are using the number of doors and categorizing it as a sedan. I would have figured they would use the stats of the RX-7 as a starting point when calculating the RX-8 rates, but I'm sure glad they are not.

On a side note, I think the moderators are getting a little anxious on the Move button lately. IMO, this thread should have stayed in the Discussion section (along with several posts pertaining to VIN and shipping dates).

Going up $122/year...with Unitrin Direct. (2001 Eclipse GS)
Not sure how they are classifying it.

I did a Progressive quote when I got my VIN, and they classified it as a 4dr coupe. I'm 23 and single with a clean record, and they quoted me $584 for 6 months. This is pretty damn good, IMO. It should drop even further if they have a good student discount. But I think it really helps since I live in a small town, and the car is classified as a pleasure car since I walk/bike to school everyday.

Your other choices are:

1. Old and able to afford expensive things.
2. Old and poor.
3. Young and poor.

Unless you die young you are gonna get old. If too much money is a problem then give it away.

We all feel for you.

My wife called our insurance today, too. For both of our cars (hers a 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe V6) will be $110/month. I'm pretty happy with that.

It got my on-line quote from Progressive. According to them, the car is a 2-cylinder. The last time I had a 2 cylinder was my 72 Honda 600 Coupe.

Price for full coverage, perfect record, no accidents, 40 year old male driver: $1,200/6 months. I think it has to be where I now live.
