I've hinted at his absense for a while. Maybe he felt he didn't have anything to add once Wakeech took over the TECH. Someone should PM him.

It may just be a really buys few months for him.
I know that during spring I barley had anytime to do anything, much less spend a lot of time at a car forum. But I am back in full swing now.:)

So I heard that this new RX-8 car doesn't have enough torque. Is it true? ;)

Hi guys,

I guess it has been awhile huh? I still lurk from time to time but I've overcame my addiction to posting when herc hit about 10,000,000 posts a few months ago. ;)

Work has been busy, I've been spending a bit more time outside now (that it's warm) and the wife is pregnant and not working anymore. When she was working, I spent as much time as I wanted on the computer but since she's been home, she bugs me when I'm on the computer too much (and says I am ignoring her). I'm sure some of the other husbands here can relate with me. :)

We've been playing scrabble a lot the last few months. She's gotten better to the point where she wins about as much as I do now and I can no longer get her with words like ixia, cwm, jun, and zin anymore. :(

Enough about me, how are you doing mental pimp? Are you the same pimp that used to be unemployed? :) No hard feelings, all my posts were in fun.

Master Buger,

The forum looks empty without you. I hope you will keep posting every now and then. Wish you best with the child. He's gonna be one lucky child having the 8 as his first ride !!!

Thanks guys,

It seems like the forum is doing well since I quit posting as much. The first owners in Japan have been doing a great job of giving us some first hand info, a dealer has been giving the status of orders and people are staking out the ports of entry.

A few members jumped off the boat and bought something else but everybody has different needs/wants and it's all good.

Now, the first production RX-8s have hit land and I'm sure we'll be hearing many more first-hand reports in the coming weeks. :)

The fuel economy is probably the main reason why the RX-8 wasn't geared for more performance. The news about the economy was a little disappointing after hearing the early 20/30 numbers but most people aren't buying the RX-8 with fuel economy as the primary factor.

Hi Buger - nice to hear from you again. My wife got pregnant and stopped working too (last September) and we just had the baby. Looks like my dream of her working and supporting me while I played games and read books at home is fading fast... back to the lottery tickets I suppose.

BTW having a newborn is a wonderful feeling but I would suggest you catch up on sleep now rather than playing scrabble.

How about a graph of some kind for old times sake?

Hi Pelucidor,

I never got to say congrats to you! I remember seeing your beautiful pics of Athena and your new house a couple of months back. We're are supposedly having a girl also. :)

Unfortunately, I don't think the dream of having the wife work to support me will happen either.

We've already been going to garage sales and buying a bunch of baby stuff. I got a couple of books on being a new dad that are pretty informative but I'm sure I have a lot to learn about raising an newborn.

If I get some time to get back into the swing of things, I might put a couple of graphs out but I suspect we'll see the real dyno results pretty soon already.

It is interesting that there are still discrepencies speeds at redline that we have been hearing. I believe we have recently heard the following speeds per gear @ 9500 rpm:

------------------------------------1st--2nd--3rd
mazda.................................. 40 ... 68 ... 95
rotarynews........................... 38 ... 68 ... 95

Yet a calculation using the gear ratios that were mentioned in the press kit and 225/45r18 wheels/tires gives the below speeds @ 9500rpm:

------------------------------------1st--2nd--3rd
calculation............................ 44 ... 73 ... 100

Unless I did the quick calculation wrong, the real world results differ from the wheel/tire size and the gearing ratios that were previously listed?

Isn't Redline at 9,000 RPM instead of 9,500 RPM?

Yes it is, the fuel cutoff is at 9,500 RPM.
