I have a dealer hunting down a Titanium Gray 8. He's found 33 in the surrounding states. I live in PA where we only require a back license plate. If he get's this car from VA or MD I'm worried they may have holes drilled in for the front plate. Does anyone know if they drill these plate holders in, mounted from the back or screwed in through the mesh in the front??? I absolutely hate having holes drilled in my car before I even take it off the lot!!

The front has the female end behind the grill where the holder can be screwed in. I unscrewed my plate and my holder and it looks like it was never there to begin with. Have no fear.

So no visible holes.....sweet!

I bought my car in Chicago, and I live in Wisconsin. My car had the front plate holder, along with the mounting hardware, in the trunk. I haven't even opened the package to look at it, so I don't know the mounting procedure. There is a TSB about this that you can read, and it tells you the exact mounting procedure - I think some drilling is required, but it seems to be nearly invisible.

Dazy is right. Inside the front mesh, there are two female eyelets made of the same black plastic as the mesh (Actually I think the mesh is molded with them) Next your plate mounting kit just screws into these two eyelets. When you remove these screws and the kit, the eyelets are nearly invisible unless you know they are there and are looking for them. From a few feet away, you can never tell there was a plate there in the first place.

Sweet! They are bring my Titanium from VA and I'll have it Friday. I can't friggin wait!

I'm currently living in a one-plate state, but the car is registered in Texas, and I drive back there frequently. My front plate is in the trunk, where it belongs; and the front end sure looks sweet without that ugly plate. Dazy and theCatalyst speak truly, looks like the grille never came close to a license plate.

Don't know how I'll explain all this to the Texas HP if they ever pull me over for not displaying the front plate. Hopefully, they'll have enough respect for a beautiful design to leave me alone.

This issue has been extensively discussed on the Miata sites.

They are now bringing my car from Pittsburgh so this was a non issue BUT the new issue is it's supposed to snow tomorrow in the North East. It may delay my pickup :eek:
