Did anyone do any brake upgrade?

Hi, its time for my brakes to be done and i am just wondering if any of u guys did that yet. Was thinking of just changing the discs to slotted, any comment or recommendations? Should i just stick with orignals? Something not too crazy...

Sent ours in for it's scheduled oil change, brought along the service bulletin, waiting on the new brake pads for installation.

I don't think the slotted rotors will change braking much, except eat your brake pads that much faster.

But it all depends on if the car is going to see track time or not. If not I'd say keep the stock rotors on there and get some different material brake pads which will make a difference in braking. As per everything automotive, there is a trade off. See which "tradeoff" is best for your situation and go w/it.

I had a set of drilled and slotted Brembo discs on my last car (99 Mk4 VR6 VW). Pad life (Mintex) was average and worked good when using the brakes aggressively on the track. Sometimes the slots would fill in with pad material and the brakes would shudder under light braking. Don't see any benefit from the slots on the street.

That's kinda scary.....I can lock up the wheels (in some conditions) at pretty high speed. I chirped my tires today breaking hard from 100km/h to 70km/h.

Temperature was around 0 deg. C so I might get better stopping power when its nice and warm but I guess I always thought the tires were the weak link in stopping our babies (by that I don't mean our tires are weak, but rather our brakes are nuts

I realize there must still be a difference though. Would be incredibly interesting to have data (braking distance from a set speed) from controlled tests with different brake setups.

Slotted rotors just look good! But I would keep stock for the street, especially at about $350 a pair. The Brembo kit would be sweet though!
