Hahaha, that's a VERY familiar sight. My friends all hate riding anywhere with me because I park way out in the empty corners of every parking lot.

It's a shop I buy parts for my bike from.

I work in a six-story building and the parking lot is usually about 2/3 full. A handful of us park on the very fringes of the lot, and always seem to use the same spot. Mine is the last spot on one of the rows. And going to stores and such, I always park away from everyone else. No dings, and a little more exercise :)

Let me just say that I have lost 20 lbs since I bought my 8 in March of 04! HaHa! Noone likes to ride with me to the store and I have often had to drop ppl off at the door because I will not compromise my 8 by parking close!

The first time I went anywhere with the car I parked in the boonies because I couldn't bear the thought of getting a ding so early. When I got out of the store I see this huge van right next to my car. No other vehicles for 50 yards. I'm thinking "WTH"? As I get closer, this whole extended family piles out. Mom, Dad, Gramps, Grandma, several kids, buggies and a baby in a papoose. They're all pointing and smiling at the RX-8. Lol, they parked there BECAUSE of the RX-8! I had to wait a couple of minutes for the troupe to clear out before I could get in the car. And yes, I noticed a few days later a faint little dent from the encounter that you can see if the light is just right. So, having been thumped on the head by fate I just go ahead and park normally now.

Hahaha, that reminds me of the time I was able to watch my 8 out the window as I ate at a local Bennigans. My car was parked in this section of the lot that was about 2-3 rows from ANY other cars, smack in the middle (didn't want to park as far as the curb because my friends all parked closer) with nobody nearby. Hundreds of parking spaces all over the place. No sooner were we seated than along comes this minivan that looks utterly lost...stop and go...turn around, change their mind...drive around some more...finally they end up deciding that the VERY BEST spot in the entire lot was the one DIRECTLY behind from my car - that one definitely elicited an audible "WTF" and a conversation with my friends

5 or so more minutes go by and I notice an SUV circling the lot in the vicinity of my car. I jokingly mention to my friends that they're going to park RIGHT next to my car, despite the 30+ empty spaces in either direction. Some joke that was. BAM, right up next to the passenger side. SECONDS later a minivan comes tearing into the lot like they were going to explode if the thing dropped below 60, and where else would they park but on the driver's side. Turns out they seemed to be following the SUV people and apparently they thought they were VERY late. It also appeared that the two drives had a combined IQ of approximately 7. Not sure how I know this, lets call it a hunch.

So there I sat, looking out the window, not sure if I wanted to burst into tears or laughter, looking at my 8 sitting in a completely empty parking lot surrounded by two minivans and an SUV.
