I received the email from mazda about my vin number. So i thought that was pretty cool and then i get a second email about the same vin number. I didnt mind about that and then about 3 hours later. They said a Corrected vin email. they gave me the wrong vin number the first time and now i have what i hope is the "correct" one. Mazda has to get their act together dont ya think?

This has already been discussed in two threads on the board.

I'm not picking on NoVa but this is typical of a lot of the BS that is going on in this forum. Mazda makes a small mistake that does not affect the quality of the car fixes it in three hours, and we start threads bashing Mazda? I recommend that we all take a pill and relax until our cars arrive.

Mazda Canada doesn't tell their dealers anything solid until just before they take delivery, while this is driving me crazy I can see why!

I'm sorry if I've offended some of our forum members but I'm getting a little tired of all this crap.

i agree, just b/c they made a mistake (and its not like they gave you the wrong car) you don't have to bash them. If you think they are bad, go to a ford dealership. You need a 5 foot knife to cut though the bullshit there before you even get to test drive a car.

also if you guys will not in previops discussions mazda did not email customers they have another company do that for them. you should blame them. they sent the emails. sorry if i seem a little pro-mazda i have worked with mazda for 14 years. they are a great company, you just have ton remeber this is a first model vehicle and there are alot of people calling and emailing about it. they are not a "horrible" company they are just getting swamped!!

Still got an automatic coming? How's your persuit going with that? Any chance that your attempts to change your order to a manual trans. might have gotten some info on your order twisted-up a bit?

Unfortunately my car was already built when i got the pre-order book so my dealership on Long Island will be getting the automatic rx8 shortly. I still have the option of buying it, but a nice rx8 forum member is giving away his slot at his dealership in new jersey.

Isn't this forum great? I know you got jerked a little bit in that thread, but so did I in another ("I was too quick to judge"), so that happens. But I know I've already found out (learned) a whole lot since joining about 3 weeks ago. Lots of good people here too. They just might not seem it sometimes when they get into a disagreement.

So all's well that ends well. I guess you've already thanked that nice member about 1000 times by now.

And remember all that "bad stuff" "you-know-who" said, it should lighten-up your right foot a little just when it needs to be.

I'm 49 and I understood exactly what everyone was saying, and I agreed with everyone. Everyone was right in their basic message they were trying to convey (ignoring the mistakes made in trying to argue about it). So all's well...

You were blessed - Be blessed!:D

I just can't get over the fact that I have been kept more informed by browsing this forum than talking to my dealership or getting correspondences from Mazda.

I'm sorry to those of you who say that we should not be "bashing" Mazda for not keeping us more informed of our pre-orders, but I disagree.

I have gotten 2 partially-informative e-mail's from them since January when I ordered (excluding the VIN number e-mail on Friday). I would have been totally "in the dark" about everything if it weren't for this forum.

I could see if it was 1980, and there was no such thing as e-mail or the internet. I would not have expected them to send me some weekly letter in the mail from Japan, but it is 2003 and they could have at least sent some "blanket" e-mail to those pre-order folks letting them know what was going on with production. It would be nice if they had an online order status system that would allow consumers to log on and check the status of their orders via the internet without pestering the clueless dealerships.

I had no idea that my car was even being built yet, and thenl I found out yesterday that it was already half way to the US on a ship.

Maybe I'm being a little more critical about this than most consumers would be, but I've ordered a $32k+ vehicle from them months ago, and I think the least they could do is shoot me an e-mail update that actually has some "meat" to it every so often to keep me posted on what is going on. Maybe they think the majority of people wouldn't want to be bombarded with e-mails???

They definitely need better organization and communication.

I'm glad we're all working together to keep each other informed via this forum. Let's keep it going!

Well it appears that Mazda corrected the little glitch in a few short hours and everyone got their proper VIN number. Some were a little too quick in bashing Mazda. Lets face it, they obviously stayed late Friday to get the thing right and I for one am grateful to have an up do date status on my car. Couple that with the cool book they sent and possibly some more goodies, I think they are doing just fine, thank you very much
I don't know if you recall but if you were on the top of the list for a Nissan Z350, you probably waited year to actually get the car. Now it looks like we’ll have ours five months sooner. I too like most of you are just as anxious to get my car and I am glad it is now just a few short weeks away. Mine didn’t make the first boat but it should be in the next shipment. Isn't it nice to have ordered a car that is going to be hugely successful and be amongst the first? I think so.
:p :p

I guess you're right. I think I am just SO anxious and a little impatient about getting it. It would have absolutely killed me to wait an entire year for it.

I'm not really bashing them about the f%^k up with the e-mails on Friday. Like somebody mentioned before....I don't think that was Mazda's fault. It might have been that mindnarrow.net or whatever that service is that is distributing their e-mails for them, and like you said...it was corrected within 3 hours.

I just think that they could have been a little better with the frequency of communications on order statuses. How friggin' hard is it to put a mailing list together to send some e-mail's letting us know what is going on?

I totally dig the book they sent, and I am very appreciative of that. I didn't even know we were getting them until it showed up in my mailbox.

im sure it's really easy for them to send you bullshit emails every week. i mean what would make you happy??? Do you want to be updated every day on your car. You really only need 2 correspondence from mazda...
1.) Car being built
2.) Car arrived at dealership

Just because your throwing down $32k doesnt mean your all of a sudden given the priveleges of mazda employees. Just chill. I know an email would make you feel better knowing that wheels are turning but emails are not gonna speed up the arrival of your car.

Did you want an email saying "book in the mail." This is rediculous. What's with some people and needing instant gratification all the time. I think you need to lighten up and just learn to wait patiently. Anyone who preordered will get their cars before august so you'll get your car when you get it.

Don't tell me what I need and don't need to keep me satisfied.

I am trying to plan accordingly for this car to arrive which means making sure I keep my bank account stocked enough to have a decent down payment and sales tax money (which is not included in the financed amount here in MO like it is in some states....it comes out of pocket at the time of purchase), and putting my existing car up for sale in enough time to dump it so I don't get the shitty trade-in for it at the dealership. This being the case, I want to be kept well-informed of what is going on with it, and a pretty close idea of when it will be here. This may not be a concern to some people, but it is to me. It is not that I am bitching about it taking so long....I just wanna know what is going on with it. Yes....I want it as soon as possible, but if it were not going to be here until October I would not care as long as I knew so I could plan for its arrival.

The dealership has been just as ill-informed about everything as I have been since the start.....which is totally sad. I was told by the dealership in February that my car would be on their lot by the end of April. Tells you how good the communication was with them. I'm not expecting to have the "privileges of a Mazda employee", but what I do expect is that the dealerships be better informed than its consumers browsing this forum.

I get the VIN number e-mail on Friday of last week, which more-or-less indicates that the production of the car has started. Then I get an e-mail today saying that it is already on the boat on the way here. What's up with that? They must have worked their asses off in that factory to get it produced on Friday and have it on some super speed barge to get it to WA on Friday of this week!

You saying that I only need 2 coorespondences from Mazda is what is baffling me. That's like going to a realtor and telling him you want a specific house that is for sale, and then having him call you 6 months later and tell you to come move into it.....with no communication about anything else in between??

Don't get me wrong....I am not really pissed about the lack of communication. I just think they could have done some things to make it much better than it has been. That's all.

The problem here is that Mazda set some expectations with their most ardent customers and then failed to deliver the first few e-mails on time (or at all).

If Mazda had not made a big deal of the pre-order program keeping you up to date on production and delivery then none of us would have cause to complain - the dealership would call us one day and say 'the car is here'. Of course we would still be harassing the dealers every week until that point...

On the other hand Mazda exceeded my expectations by sending the book - I didn't expect that at all. So overall some good and some bad, and I think the 'bad' is improving.
