Just wondering, for those who have the NAV system, who all has had their NAV system firmware upgraded by Mazda. I tried last July, and they said they didn't have the DVD yet. When I went back last week for service, they said that Mazda had decided not to perform upgrades. Service techs were instructed not to perform the upgrade. As a pre-order customer, this really pissed me off, since pre-order vehicles are pretty much the guinea pigs for a new vehicle rollout.

So - I'd like to know if anyone's request has been accepted or deinied by Mazda.

A few rules:

1) This is not the thread to offer upgrade services or say that you had it done by someone other than Mazda. This poll has to do with customer service.

2) If you are a pre-order customer, please mention that when you vote. This isn't to diss any of our early adopters, who I think should be upgraded for free as well, it's just that the pre-orders placed their order sight unseen for this vehicle. For instance, we all thought we were getting a six-disc changer because the pictures of the center console showed 1-6 and Disc ^ and Disc v. At the time we ordered, the factory options weren't even out yet. So sorry, says Mazda.

3) If you were upgraded, state when your upgrade was performed.

I'm looking forward to hearing from y'all.

Need to add if you caused "Nav failure" on purpose.....

This is not an anonymous poll, and actually I don't care whether it was on purpose or not. I'm pretty much assuming that most Nav failures were induced, thus the use of 'NAV failure' in quotes.

Btw, when was your upgrade performed?

Well, the latest word I got from the dealership for upgrading the firmware is this:

1) Call Navteq and tell them you want an upgrade.

2) After giving them a deposit (not sure how much yet), they will mail you a disk with the upgrade.

3) This is where it gets fuzzy for me. The dealership service consultant said I must return something to Navteq in order to get the deposit back. He said it was the 'Old Disc', but AFAIK, there is no 'firmware disk' to return. My understanding was that the firmware upgrade was on a DVD, which is ONLY used for upgrading and is removed on completion. So maybe he meant that I would have to return the disk they send me.

Anyway, I guess I'll give them a call and see what the deal is. I still think it's ridiculous that Mazda has been instructed not to perform upgrades.
