View Full Version : any chance for 1st allocation w/no vin #
bassik277 06-05-2003, 09:28 PM Im in the first allocation and I am a pre-order, at galpin mazda in southern California, and i ordered a titanium grey gt 6 spd with nav, however they mysteriously do not have a vin number for me yet, despite the fact that many of the other first allocation cars at my dealership have recieved their vin #'s. Do you guys think there is still hope for me to get my car sometime in july?

bassik277 06-05-2003, 10:53 PM has there been any titanium grey w/ red on black interior, 6 spd , with nav, that have recieved vin? Because maybe its the navi thats delaying our vin numbers
rx8daniel 06-05-2003, 11:17 PM I have 3 on my list w/ VINs that are Tit Grey, w/ Navi. I'm not sure about the red/blk interior as I haven't tracked interiors.
Superfan 06-05-2003, 11:23 PM I haven't even called my dealer for the VIN. I'm just going to wait for Mazda to email it. According to their last email they're going to send out the VIN email in 1- 3 months (Email Date 03/19/03). That means that first allocation pre-orders should have a VIN by June 19, 2003.

not true any more!!!!
got this yesterday!!!!
The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) for RX-8 Pre-sell Program
orders is typically sent to you within 3-4 months after the factory
accepts the order that was submitted by your Mazda dealership. You
should have received an e-mail notification confirming the factory has
accepted your order. Please understand the 3-4 months is only an
estimate and some variation may occur. We do not have access to look
up your VIN, so you will need to contact your dealership for this
information.
note the 3 to 4 months ..not 1 to 3 months.
The Preorder email thing has fallen apart...
khoney 06-06-2003, 12:12 AM Gee, that email looks awfully familiar... Oh yeah, I got one this afternoon myself, in response to my quest for a VIN.

Efini 8 06-06-2003, 01:27 AM I havent gotten my damn book, a call from the dealer, or my VIN... imma freakin call them up tomorrow
KKMmaniac 06-06-2003, 06:51 AM I'm in the same situation. (and # 9 I think) I haven't been given a VIN, and haven't called the dealer either.
Sure, I'd feel better with a VIN, but I think it's like the other aspects of receiving info on the car, or the book; just when I start to get really worried, I get the information.
Maybe Mazda hired the information minister of Iraq?

pmacwill 06-07-2003, 02:39 PM be patient about the book. I finally received mine today (6/7)
bassik277 06-17-2003, 06:02 PM I called up RX8 orders, and they looked up my order (by my name, and the dealer i ordered from, because i have no vin) and rather then showing up under my name specifically, it showed up as just an order from Galpin, which is why i didnt recieve any book or emails yet. However when i called Galpin, the sales manager assured me that all my information was inputed, and that it takes some time for Mazda to update their database or something like that. (Btw, i spoke to him in person and had him show me on his computer that my info was inputed) So I called Rx8orders again today, and spoke with Rosa, who took my information and is gonna report the problem and call me back. Does anyone have any input on this?
akrx8 06-17-2003, 10:23 PM bassik277,i find it hard to beleave they put in your info, or they waited tell rx8orders called them.i ordered mine on 6/6/03 and as of today ive got my vin e mail and last week they e mailed for my address so they could send my book.i wouldnt worry to much cause i think once you get in the system you will get your emails quickly.i still havent got the book but im hoping to see it soon.
zoom44 06-18-2003, 11:25 AM i supposedly been a preorder since feb 21st when the dealer placed my order. however i wasn't getting the emails and after much harranging(sp.?) they appear to have fixed it awhile ago but so far i have only received the "factory accepted your order email" the same day most got their vin emails. i have not received a book or vin and am curious as to how you got your emails. did they come from your dealer or from mazda/mindarrow? also who emailed asking for your address, dealer or mazda?

The thing is, i haven't recieved any emails yet, and no one emailed me asking for my address etc. i called Rx8Orders, (1800-222-5500) and spoke to them. They can sometimes look up your status if you provide them with the name on your order, the name of your dealership etc. However in my case, my name wasnt showing up on their computer, so we looked up my dealership, and i saw an order for my exact cars, but it didnt have a name on it, (it also didnt have anyone elses name) it was just a nameless order going to galpin. So galpin is claiming that it just takes time for their databases to get updated, which in my opinion is BS, because i ordered quite a while ago.
zoom44 06-18-2003, 01:44 PM sorry bassik277 i was pretty clear on your sit. which closely resembles my own in many aspects.
i was actually asking questions of akrx8 so i could better understand how his process has gone ahead so quickly.
