So I drove to FedEx from where I work which is a two minute walk away from where I work. I get there package in hand, and turned off the engine  I'll paraphrase here, "HOLYSHITHOLYSHITHOLYSHITHOLYSHITHOLYSHITHOLYHOLYSH IT..."
So I deliever the package and sat in my car praying that I would start and take me home--it was 7:30pm on a Friday night.
I turn the key and....
...the engine roared to life like it always does when I turn the key.
HOLY SHIT! It didn't flood--what the hell!? Not that I was complaining that I didn't have to push the car back to work and grab cab home, but what gives? Was I just lucky or what? The engine temp when I turned the car off wasn't even remotely pointing to any warmth. I drove thanking the car gods.

Lol... I'm always paranoid about short moves myself. Just remember, it only takes 8-10 seconds to get the car going if it's flooded. :)
LOL!!!
You kill me Hobbes.... You panic because you took a short trip... LOL :rlaugh:
Honestly guys... The car isn't that fragile... just handle it like you normally would any other car... :)

I've started, stopped it like four times each moving the car just a few feet... No flooding issues here.

Hobbes: Flooding anxiety? ;)
I thought I proved that not all Rx-8 flood on command ;) when we were at the D&B meet when I moved my car cold for the group shot and shut it down. Don't forget the "new" revised flooding procedure, just in case. :)

:D Well--too many nights of OT before that night...I can remember telling myself, don't turn off the car yet and the body did the opposite thing--need serious rest, anyhoo I'm glad that the car isn't as..er, floody :p as I thought.
Gambit - We recieved a new flash as well as instructions for dealing with a flooded engine.

I stalled mine one day backing out of the driveway (the clutch is so different than the old MX-3 I drive). I was pretty happy when it started right back up.
What's this 'new' flash ? I'm assuming it's from quite a while ago and were for those 8's that were built before a certain date. Mine was built in April '04. I've received no letters about a new flash.

Wow, I haven't been here in ages, but that's a whacky way of telling that story hobbes :D
But honestly, I've had my car since last january, and I never understood this whole flooding issue.... til it happened to me! I've moved the car short distances and started her up again no problem before... So I thought all this flooding thing was just hype. So one cold evening back in December, I got lazy to warm up the car to put it in the garage and shut her off. The next day... NOOOOOO, it happened, the car didn't start. It wasn't a good feeling.
After it happens to you, you search everywhere on this site to get answers. It's definately here, but the word "flooding" is over used a bit ;) So yeah, my understanding is, if the car shuts off while it's cold, you can start her back up again without any problems... just as long as you didn't leave it off for 10 - 15 minutes. That's why if you stall the car, you can easily start it back up. When I first got my car, I was so afraid to stall it when she was cold. The point is, not to let unburned fuel sit in the engine when it's cold.
So anyway, in the end, I eventually got the car started following some of the many tips found on this site. So i learned my lesson, and will never do that again.
