well my gf was leaving the doctor's office this morning. she was pulling out and bumped into another car, now the car has a hugggeee paint chip. it's pretty bad, it got under the paint, exposing the urethane. so my question is, do i have to repaint the whole rear bumper? or is there a possible way to patch that area.

tell ya what dood...you want to repaint the whole bumper. You can have a shop blend the area but depending on the color of the car, or how anal retentive you are about your paint, you may not be happy with the result. You can always see where they blended the clearcoat even if they get the color 100%. Have someone shoot the bumper...itll cost you between $200-$700 bucks.

like I said, depends on how anal retentive you are about your paint. Just fill it in with play-doh and coloer over the top with magic marker to blend in the color. Touch it up if you will. Or blend it....do you have the light silver car to hide the blend?

One thing I've learned through this forum: NEVER NEVER NEVER let your GF / Wife drive your car.
Just get a kit...

I took out a small chunk of the bumper on my VW GTI 337. I'm as anal as anyone, and was sure I'd need a new bumper. The body shop - a very good one - assured me they could fix it and blend the paint (Reflex Silver) and, what do you know, they did - perfectly. Could not tell it was done.

I took it to C&D Auto Body in So. Hackensack (973.779.0497). They cost more but they're really good. Talk to Matt (owner) if you go; tell 'em Richard with the red Mazdaspeed Miata sent you!
