I was at this dealer, looking at a Miata for my wife this weekend. The sales guy indicated that they're expecting to take delivery of 20 Rx-8's in about a month. Thirteen of those are pre-sold, which means there are still 7 that will be "on the lot" for test drives and non-pre-order purchase.

BUT... He was hinting around that once they hit the lot there will be some dealer markup applied.

I refuse to go to Capital Mazda after a bad experience there.

I went there about a month ago to test drive a 6, and I was not treated well at all. First, no one would talk to me. There were many sales guys standing around doing nothing, and none approached me. I approached one and told him that I was interested in looking at a 6s, and he quickly referred me to another salesperson. I went up to this guy and he told me that unless I was purchasing a car that day, that he and all the other sales people there were too busy to wait on me. I was shocked. I could plainly see that he and most of the other sales people were doing nothing but standing around. So I told him that I would be happy to take my business to Al Smith and left.

I received most better service from Joyce at Al Smith.

I have been treated well by Joyce and Steve at Al Smith. I believe they have unspoken for cars coming in as well.

They were the only dealer back in Oct 2002 that would put in writing that I would only pay MSRP and take my deposit.
