Exclamation Yamaguchi Rx-8 book in Canada???

Anybody know where to get the Jack Yamaguchi hardcover book on the Rx-8 in Canada? I want to avoid bringing it up from the US as it will invariably be damaged.

I had a terrible time getting my Rx-7 one. I swear the availibility window on these things is like one week.

Any insight is appreciated. If nothing else somebody please direct me to the best place from the US to bring it up from.

Thanks.

Ahhhhh damn it! I wasn't really looking for it back then, I'm picking one up as a gift for someone. What was the price if you happen to remember?

You get one for yourself? It's a nicely put together piece...

One a side note, I'll be able to attend some meets finally this year, I've got a
9-5er now with Saturdays open. See you in the spring.

Mazda USA sent a copy to everybody who pre-ordered the RX-8 (between Jan and June 2003). Mazda Canada was supposed to send a copy to everybody who bought an RX-8 in 2003, but when the HP rating was revised from 247 to 238, decided to NOT send the books because the HP rating printed in the book was no longer correct! At least, that's the lame excuse they gave me for not sending my book . They said they were going to send a pen instead, but I never received that either...

Anyway, the book - I got a copy from someone in the US (Alaska, actually) who received two copies from the pre-order program. It arrived in the original box in perfect condition. These show up on e-Bay occasionally, I'd have no problem buying one while asking the seller to ensure it was properly boxed for shipping. It is definitely a must-have for RX-8 owners.

Regards,
Gordon

Gord,

You're right about the "lame" reason for not distributing the book. My wife worked for Mazda Canada's advertising agency for four years (until recently going to a competitor!). I have two copies of the book. Anyone who wants one can make me an offer.

PS. I did get the pen too. It wasn't worth the wait....and never did write very well....ran out of ink about 2 weeks after I got it!

If you were one of the early ones who picked up their car you got the book. That was because Mazda with still denying there was any HP drop at that time. After they admitted to the loss of HP they stopped sending the book to new owners. I think they got the RX-8 pen instead. I received the book but I had to purchase the pen.

**** Big Thank You ****

Steve,
Big thank you for bringing down the book to where I work and giving me such a huge "discount " on such a rare collector's item. Cannot thank you enough for this.

Highly recommend this guy for Buying/Selling. He was on time for the meeting, followed up with a phone call for confirmation after the initial emails, and was quick (got my item 24 hrs after I first PM'ed him !!!) .

Two thumbs way up.
