I hope that Mazda Australia realise that S03 is better than RE040. Since we are already screwed with the 177kw, I hope Mazda Australia is kind enough to put S03s for our RX8.

Winning ,you may have read tyre comparisons in the wheels magazine june edition ,however i am led to believe they only come in 17'' ,i personally prefer michelins pilots .

NO Winning - that is probably right -

WE ARE GETTING the RE040 for sure. I just checked with Mazda City Melbourne. Gan san in one of the video said it is not bad. S01 or S03 are more pricy though. I don't mind the Dunlop FM901 either. Very nice reasonable priced tyre - I have that on my Integra Type R

It is only either 16" or 18", they do not have the 17" desigh for the RX8. I believe they come standard with RE040 and SO3 as an option from the factory. So I hope Mazda Australia opt up for the SO3 to compromise with the lower power. And yes, you're right Michelin Pilots is a very good tires. Expensive though:p

http://www.rx8forum.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=4532 According to that, half of the power was due to a more accurate method of measurement, which you can't quite get back with an ECU.

From my conversations with Mazda Australia, fitment of S03s is NOT a dealer supplied option.

The RE040 is not a BAD tyre.... it's just not that good. Think NVH and longevity and the RE040 is better, think grip and the S03 wins hands down.

I think I'll be happy with RE040 just as long as I've got some Dunlop D-01s for the race track on a spare set of wheels. :D
