View Full Version : Fearless Football Predictions
RX-GR8 01-21-2005, 09:29 AM Eagles 31 Falcons 17
the eagles have been the class of a woeful conference. i don't see how they lose this game if they play up to their potential.
Patsies 20 Steelers 17
it will be close but the Patsies have been here before. bettis can't do it all.
next week we'll do the stupor bowl predictions.
Odds are that your predictions are right. I have to pull for the Falcons, though.
Here are my picks-
Eagles -5.5 Flacons
Pats -3 Steelers (my strong play)
Eagles/Falcons Under 37 (snow should make it a mess)
Parlay it and voila
Slims8 01-21-2005, 11:24 AM Eagles 14, Falcons 27
Patriots 28, Steelers 17
Feras 01-21-2005, 11:34 AM how about a few analogies :)
In nature the falcon is the fastest, however the eagle is bigger stronger and more vicious and better suited for survival in harsh conditions. eagles 21 falcons 10 (vick is going to have to pass because of slippery running conditions and that hasnt been good for atlanta this year)
(not quite as good an analogy)Patriots fought for independence, steelers worked raw iron into strong steel. The one mismatch is that Patriots have guns, steelers only have metal :). Pats 26 steelers 17. The hard work on the ground from the steelers is going to be mismatched by brady's aerial attack and vinatieri's clutch field goals and place kicks.
8is>enuff 01-21-2005, 11:36 AM I predict I will be freezing my cojones off at the Linc on Sunday.
And Feras, what are the Patriots guns made of?
Rx8bydocabe 01-21-2005, 11:38 AM steelcurtain 28
pats 10
Gambit 01-21-2005, 12:00 PM I'm goin with
Eagles 27, Falcons 17
Patriots14, Steelers 10
I'd like to see the Pennsylvania bowl, but I don't think it's gonna happen
Aoshi Shinomori 01-21-2005, 01:50 PM how about a few analogies :)

That gave me a good laugh, thanks Feras. I think the Eagles/Falcons game is a toss up. It will be very close though, remember the Falcons defense is much better than that of the Vikings. Both of the weekends games will be tight, I'll say Falcons 24 to the Eagles 21. For the next game I'll say Patriots 31 to the Steelers 10.
GotBass 01-21-2005, 04:18 PM I'm pulling for Pittsburg, Boston has had enough championships.
AvatarQAZ 01-21-2005, 04:25 PM Falcons 35-Eagles 14 *gasp* If it IS a running game (slick conditions, windy, etc) philly is going to have a hard time stopping ATL... a real hard time.
Steelers 20 or 24-Patriots 21 or 27
I really have no clue who to pick in that game. I think the pats are a better team, but they are going up against not just bettis, but staley. If the game is close in the 4th quarter (within a touchdown), advantage pittsburgh. Too much rushing and beating up on the defense will bring the pats to their knees.
Mazdax605 01-21-2005, 05:53 PM I'm pulling for Pittsburg, Boston has had enough championships.
Being a Boston sports fan for the last 20 years I never thought I would ever hear anyone utter those words, especially being a patriots fan for so long, and a HUGE Bruins fan.It sure has been a fun few years here as a sports fan,but I figure we should live it up now, because I remember the dark days as a fan of the Pats,Sox,B's....For the longest time the Pats wern't even a joke, they were a non-factor in this league with a faint glimmer of hope every few years, but nothing ever materialized.I never get too cocky about the Pats with fans of other teams because I know the Pats run will end at some point.
With all that said I still like the Pats chances on sunday, but I am very realistic in my opinions of the Stillers. They have the best record in the league, and whooped the Pats on Halloween,so I wouldn't be surprised by a loss on sunday to the Stillers.
Go Pats!!!!
KC_Prelude 01-21-2005, 06:13 PM I hate the patriots and hope that they fail miserably but they will probably win it all again this year. Eagles I could really care less about but they have been close and not gotten to the super bowl so they are deserving of it. I would like to see the steelers go but I don't know if they have the offensive firepower to do it, especially with a rookie QB who has to rely on his defense and running game. Of course I have to take the dirty birds as my personal preferred choice to win the super bowl because Vick is probably the most entertaining player in the game right now.
djvelocitee 01-21-2005, 06:18 PM I ready for the Pats on Sunday!!! I got a bit of $$$ on the Pats.....i have NEVER second guessed them all these years, but the Steelers.....i know its not going to be an easy game....i will be nibblin on my finger nails the whole game....
GO PATS!!!!
rx8wannahave 01-21-2005, 07:03 PM Pats 19 Steelers 16 in OT (but I hope the steelers win)
Eagles 27 Falcons 21 (Kinda hope the best for the both teams...either way)
EvilBostonRX8 01-21-2005, 07:09 PM I hate the patriots and hope that they fail miserably but they will probably win it all again this year. What is with the hatred towards the Patriots? It's not like they have outspoken and controversial players who shoot their mouths off. They don't have players who make spectacles of themselves. They don't talk smack about anyone else. I don't get it. All they do is their job, and they win.
rx8wannahave 01-21-2005, 07:22 PM The Pat's CHEAT, no...I'm not too serious...but...dang it I forgot his name, he is on their D...he is a HUGE CHEAT...FREAKEN HUGE CHEAT!!!!
The team, coach, and QB are great...but I think we all had enough of them.
djvelocitee 01-21-2005, 07:27 PM Great teams leave there mark....Pats will contiunue to leave there mark...Red Sox left there mark after 86 years, and what a way to leave the mark i might add......
Im PROUD to have my "B" (redsox) sticker and the Pats logo on my rear window.............GO PATS!!!
=)
I'm not Pats fan but I like the Pats. They are efficient and solid and the best part is there are no loud mouth stars on that team. They get the job done. They were the underdog before and proved themselves year after year as a consistent force. Must respect the Pats. You saw what they did to Manning, Big Ben is crapping his pants. Beginner's luck is over. oh yea imo. :)
rx8wannahave 01-21-2005, 10:09 PM No doubt, the Pats are a great team...I'm just tired of their D...LOL, but I am a Miami Dolphins fan so take that as a grain of salt...lol
go, miami...lol...we will get better...you'll see...you'll see, we will be back! Especially now that freaken feidler (what Miami fans call him) and weak wandstadt are gone
shelleys_man_06 01-21-2005, 11:59 PM I remember Playboy's picks for this year:
AFC East - Pats
AFC North - Cincy
AFC South - Indy
AFC West - Denver
AFC Wild Card - Titans, Chiefs
NFC East - Philly
NFC North - Packers
NFC South - Saints
NFC West - Seattle
NFC Wild Card - St. Louis, Cowboys
They were sort of close, and they predicted New England over the Seahawks. What were they smoking?
I think the Patriots have the best chance of winning again. If Vick is as good as he thinks he is, he'll most definitely waste the Eagles' D. Him and Dunn are pretty dangerous on the ground. Manning lost to NE last week because they took him right out of the pocket; Peyton plays best out of the pocket. Just by looking at him, he was very uncomfortable. He choked, and he choked big time. I think the Pats can win this Sunday with their running game. I don't know how Big Ben will fare against the Pats D. Who cares if Ty Law is out? They did exceptional without him. What I do know is he is very similar to Manning, in that he plays well in the pocket. Otherwise, he'll toss up an errant pass or interception, and their next opponents are no Jets.
Here are my picks-
Eagles -5.5 Flacons
Pats -3 Steelers (my strong play)
Eagles/Falcons Under 37 (snow should make it a mess)
Parlay it and voila
pushed on the 37 but a win nonetheless. :D
djvelocitee 01-23-2005, 08:58 PM What a game.....Pats come through once again....
Respect to the Steelers...(a small amount)
mikeb 01-24-2005, 03:32 PM my money is on New england
rx8wannahave 01-24-2005, 03:41 PM Dang Pat's...lol, I remember his name...I CAN'T STAND Rodny Harrison...the cheateness dirty player in the NFL...no doubt, I like the rest of the team...but Rodny I can't stand!!!
I think the Super Bowl is going to be a great game...GO EAGLES!!! Pat's have tasted it already...I want Donovan to get this!
Gambit 01-24-2005, 04:14 PM I think the eagles can win this game if they can simply stop Dillon, which they ought to be able to do. Their secondary is better than the patriots' but the Iggles are gonna have a tough time scoring points on their D
rx8wannahave 01-24-2005, 04:50 PM If there D get some takeaway's and Donovan remembers it's OK to run with the ball in his hands...the Pats are in trouble, but their coach is GREAT so we will see!
EvilBostonRX8 01-24-2005, 05:04 PM I think the eagles can win this game if they can simply stop Dillon, which they ought to be able to do.You mean the way the top defense in the league stopped Dillon?
Feras 01-24-2005, 05:50 PM You mean the way the top defense in the league stopped Dillon?
no more like how the eagles stopped the number one NFL running team :p
Aoshi Shinomori 01-24-2005, 06:03 PM You mean the way the top defense in the league stopped Dillon?
They did stop Dillon, he was held to something like 73 yards, and 25 of those came on one TD run. I'd say for the Steelers that is an accomplishment. They lost because of the incredible defense of the Patriots, forcing mistakes on the part of the Steelers. The only chance the Eagles have is to do the same to the Pats, make them turn the ball over. If they cannot do that, expect a manhandling in Jacksonville.
KC_Prelude 01-24-2005, 07:31 PM What is with the hatred towards the Patriots? It's not like they have outspoken and controversial players who shoot their mouths off. They don't have players who make spectacles of themselves. They don't talk smack about anyone else. I don't get it. All they do is their job, and they win.
I don't like it when teams win multiple super bowls. I also hate Tom Brady because he seems so generic (just my personal thing). He's a great QB but somehow I feel he's overrated. I also am sick of the freakin east coast winning every super bowl while my midwest boys choke in the big shows.
Go Eagles.
EvilBostonRX8 01-24-2005, 07:42 PM They did stop Dillon, he was held to something like 73 yards, and 25 of those came on one TD run. I KNOW what happened, I watched the game. My point is that they lost anyway.
The only chance the Eagles have is to do the same to the Pats, make them turn the ball over. If they cannot do that, expect a manhandling in Jacksonville.Yes, a manhandling it will be. Not that I'm all about hyping up the Pats, but they don't turn over the ball a lot normally, and almost not at all in the postseason. On ESPN they showed a stat about Brady in which he has the lowest interception percentage EVER in the postseason. Since he's now played 8 postseason games and thrown I believe only 2 picks, thats impressive. Dillon is also pretty sure handed. If there's anyone who might cough it up it would be Faulk, but he's your 3rd down back anyway.
I also am sick of the freakin east coast winning every super bowl while my midwest boys choke in the big shows. That's a personal problem. Can't help you with that. Tell your coaches to load up on running and defense with an adequate passing game and then get back to me. Prolific passing has only won a Super Bowl once in my memory, and then nearly lost it on the one foot line as time expired.
therm8 01-24-2005, 07:43 PM Since I'm not a fan of either team, my opinion should be based on ability alone. It's not however. If the Eagles weren't such a bunch of swaggering, camera loving bastards, I might be able to root for them. But as it stands, Go Pats. Actually the Patriots would be my choice either way.

If the Eagles weren't such a bunch of swaggering, camera loving bastards, I might be able to root for them. But as it stands, Go Pats. Actually the Patriots would be my choice either way.As far as I am concerned, a team that LOST 3 consecutive conference title games should keep their mouths shut. Congratulations to them for finally making it to the big game. Now shut up and play.

I wasn't trying to be hostile, but just expressing my belief that the Steelers did a great job wrapping up Dillon, however the Pats had a much better run game this time, over 100 yards as compared to the 8 it was the last time the teams met. Good luck Philly, you sure are going to need it.
Feras 01-24-2005, 08:15 PM Good luck Philly, you sure are going to need it.
a lot of people felt the same way about the eagles against the unstoppable atlanta running attack, games gonna be closer than everyone thinks (26-24 is my prediction, and i wont call a winner, but the win will come on a field goal as time expires)

Philly could very well keep it a close game, but it's going to be tough. Who knows though? Should be a good game nonetheless :)
