just out of curiosity, how do guys think an NA 2nd gen rx-7 would perform with a properly swapped 6port renesis & rx-8 tranny? i was thinking it would be similar to an s2000; they roughly have the same power, torque, and weight. any ideas?

the renisis has about the same hp and tq as a bridgeport and the drivablilty of a stocker, not a bad thing me thinks

yeah, about 9 months ago when i just came to this board and started learning about the RENESIS, my first idea was to put the RENESIS in a GTUs ... heh heh heh... that would be toooo wicked

It all depends, FC's weight between 2695 - 2945 lbs depending on the year, so you may end up having a better straight line performer or very similar but without the great handling of the 8.

I think I'd prefer a 1st-gen as my base car for this swap, it weighs only 2325 lbs!! Or even a Miata... :D

 i cannot believe you said that. FC3S's may be old, but they have pretty killer independant suspensions too!! :p

btw, if you strip a GTUs (like anything inside would still work), you'd probably end up with a car into the 2600-2700 lbs. range. :)

I totally agree :D

FC's have killer handling but what I meant to say was COMPARED to the 8 the 8 is better...

By the way, I owned both a 1984 1st gen with the 12A engine and a 1986 GXL with the 13B engine and found that the 1st gen was more fun to drive than the FC. Maybe that's why I'd prefer the smaller and lighter FB or Miata for this swap.
