Tigster 01-17-2005, 11:25 AM I was just on vacation and went to my favorite Mexican restaurant and thought I'd ask what is your favorite dish?
Mine are:

A nice strip steak...rubbed with ancho chiles. Grilled slow then sliced thin. Mix with peppers (poblano, jalapeno, etc), onions, corn and spices. Can eat like fajitas or just as is.

Anything from Acapulco mexican restaurant in cali.
Tequila.
:D
Actually, street tacos from a little shop on Revolucion in Tijuana or lobster tacos from Ortega's in Ensenada are must-haves when I'm south of the border. Living in San Diego all my life definitely has its advantages. Oh, and I make really good guacamole.

abbid 01-17-2005, 12:10 PM Tequila.

BlueEyes 01-17-2005, 12:14 PM I dated a girl once who went to school with the children of some ULTRA rich Mexican family. I'm talking owning parts of the country. Anyway, they had a party at there 'condo' here in Toronto. It was more like the floor of a building. They had this tequila there that was absolutely delicious. A sipping tequila if there ever was one. It tasted so different from jose cuervo and really anything I have ever seen at a store here. I later learned it was worth thousands of dollars per bottle.
delicious!
poolsidenaz 01-17-2005, 12:53 PM BOOHOOOOOOOOO! WHAAAAAAAAAAH! Someone made guac at my request for a party and I didn't eat any and now they won't make me anymore WHAAAAAAAAH!

Well, I don't pay THAT much for my tequila, but I definitely go for the high-end sippin' stuff. Reposado is my favorite, and I recommend Don Eduardo or Penca Azul. Patrone is a good stand-by and more readily available.
Grabitquick 01-17-2005, 01:52 PM Shrimp mole. From a restaurant here in L.A. that has it. Also, although not technically "Mexican," I'll eat virtually anything when in New Mexico--chili pepper heaven.
I like meat, lettuce, tomato, salsa, sour cream wrapped up in a flour or corn wrapper. Isn't Mexican food variations of that in different names?
Steak quesadillas and tacos it is.
NomisR 01-17-2005, 02:19 PM Carne Asada Taco, in soft shell, none of that hard shell crap
My favorite Mexican dish is posole, with Tamales a close second. And my wife makes a killer Albondigas soup.
The best Mexican food I ever had was a bowl of Chili Verde in a truckstop. I'll often order it when we're out but haven't ever found its equal.
yanksfan1_67 01-17-2005, 02:47 PM Salma Hayek with a side of chicken mole enchiladas and pacifico rice :D
Dlrosie 01-17-2005, 02:52 PM And to finish the meal...actually any meal:

veilsidev1 01-17-2005, 04:59 PM whatup guys, im just happy to see so many non-mexicans experience the delicious foods mexican people have to offer and im also happy to see not many people said something like "meximelt" is my favorite mexican food. And belive me, this is just the tip of the iceberg of the thousands of plates they have. Well, happy eating
Enchiladas suizas have to be my favorite. Tender shreaded chicken rolled in handmade tortillas, covered with tomato sauce and melted cheese, ok, im heading to coculas restaurant, peace.
veilsidev1 01-17-2005, 05:01 PM oh, and its tacos al pastor, not tacos el pastor. And yes, these are very very good with a little lemon. Never eaten any authentic ones in the us, here the meat is just spiced steak instead of that tender slow cooked pork, hmmmmm.
Tigster 01-17-2005, 05:09 PM I like my tacos al pastor with lime... There is a place in Naples Fl that serves them the real way called Lalo's if your ever there... MMMMmmmmmmm good
SilverTrigger 01-17-2005, 05:21 PM Chile rellenos are the absolute BOMB! (gut bomb, that is) but i just can't live without'em. the hotter, the better.
SilverEIGHT 01-17-2005, 07:21 PM Chips, Salsa and a cold beer (XX). :p Oh, and Chicken Tamali, re-fried beens, XX, nochos dip w/peppers, XX, XX, chips! Dang, I'm hungry! Be back later, I'm outta here. :D
WildOne 01-17-2005, 09:26 PM I am sure I am spelling this wrong, but my fav-o-rite Mexican dish is Choirri Polo.

Pork Tamales from Tarahumara Mexican food on Merriam Ln in Overland Park. It's a little walk up place next to a barber shop. There is just enough room for 4 Mexican ladies to make the food and they sell the Tamales to other Mexican restaraunts here in town. BEST TAMALES ON THE PLANET!!!! Fred the owner is a friend of mine... nice guy.
From Cafe Rio - Pork Barbaco Burrito with black beans and rice, hot sauce and cheese served "Enchilada Style" - with sauce and cheese melted over the top. MMMM MMM!!! You haven't tasted the best burrito in the world unless you've eaten at Cafe Rio ;)
