Do you think Lucas intentionally made EP 1-2 crap in order to lower expectations so that EP 3 would blow people out of the water?

Prolly

The transformation of Anikin Skywalker into Darth Vader is what everyone is waiting to see. since the first movie came out!

It's still going to have to prove to the fans that the franchise isn't dead... I'm sure everyone will go watch it simply because it's the last one. But I have my doubts that it will be better than Empire Strikes Back or A New Hope.

Lucas should screw with the CGI's (or do it right at least.. look at Lord of the Rings, Gollum looked more real than ANY of the Episode I and II stuff... Jar Jar? Blah.. fake. All the Troop fighting? So choreographed.. blah. Jabba slithing like that? Blah... Bring back PUPPETS! Or at least dwarves in costumes... I would take Ewoks over Gungans ANY day, and that's not saying much.

Thatnks for posting the link to the trailer! I can't wait to see Revenge of the Sith. True, episodes 1 & 2 couldn't hold a candle to 4, 5, & 6, but I still get excited to see the next one, will most likely see it the first showing, and will still walk out of there going "damn, that was fun!". By the way, this will be the first one rated PG-13.

It 's not te last one. There were three trilogies (three sets of three movies). We still have the last trilogy left (episodes 7, 8 and 9). It's just a matter of when they will be done.

:P Lucas already said this is the last one. There is no third trilogy. People "wanted" to have more.. and read the books, but he doesn't plan on making those.

He might say that, but the all mighty dollar will change his mind.

True

He said years ago that there was no interest in doing anything past the first three movies (the second trilogy). He was very adamant about not doing any more movies after doing Episode VI.

But it's about 3 years per movie, and he's getting up there in age as it is.

He might say that, but the all mighty dollar will change his mind.

And I hear that Lucas isn't directing this one because he couldn't make it as "dark" as it needed to be. Also heard he co-wrote it, as opposed to the earlier ones where he did it himself.

Just dug out my most recent issue of Vanity Fair to provide this quote from Lucas on the PG-13 rating:

"I really don't mind a PG-13. This one is a little tougher, and I think children, young children especially, should be warned that this is not your average Star Wars. It's a lot darker. There's a lot more scary stuff in it. It's brutal in places, and they should be aware of that. And at least if it does come out to be a PG-13, the parents are warned to be careful of bringing tiny little kids, like five and six years old, because it might be too much. Know your kids. I have three kids - they're all grown up now - but when they were six, I knew what I could take them to and couldn't. People think Star Wars is extremely innocent, although we do cut a lot of people in half and cut off a lot of arms."

FANACHISE DEAD ???

Having recently re-watched IV - VI with my children for the first time, I don't view these are artfull masterpieces. But 5 movies on the top 31 gross all time (not adjusted for inflation) is hardly a dead franchise.

Well.. who knows, the EP I & II also looked good from their trailers as well. Or at least I thought.
I'll give it the benefit of the doubt like I did the others and see it in the theater.
I read somewhere that he might relinquish directing to someone else (like he did with the books) on any further movies. I think the Zahn ones would be great.
I also heard there will be a Saturday morning cartoon or possibly a live action TV series (No I'm not kidding). Who knows how those will go.

From watching the 'making of ep3' segment on the dvd release of ep4,5,6. I'm kind of looking forward to the lightsaber duel between Anakin and Obiwan. Beyond that, I don't have much expectations. I think the last 2 should've been PG-13 as well, and should've dumped all the disney kiddy crap.

You can get kits to make them on ebay for about $600 like this one:

I had that costume a few years ago when they were a little cheaper. I actually traded a custom built Boba Fett costume for the stormtrooper costume.

My daughter's costume was custom built by this guy:
