That's where I hit cones.
Just have a blast, and make sure to leave plenty of time to crawl all around the RX-8's that will be there.

Your telling me.
I went on the Friday before and my first run was better than most people and my second run was smoking until I overcooked the Andretti Hairpin at the end and took out some cones.
I would have had an 780 or something like that and if I had slowed for the turn properly I would have had easily an 800+.

Ps. They are autos so try and get used to left foot braking. It will save you a few tenths here and there.

Save your timed runs until after a decent amount of rubber has been laid onto the track(i.e. afternoon depending on weather also). Hit the other classes first and the pre-qual area. Watch the others' lines. The Falken Tire guys(they swap out the rubber) have been doing the course at each city venue, and you can pick up pointers. Adjust your seat closer than you normally would for more steering control. You will be disqualed if you manual shift it so leave it in drive. Verify the TCS(Traction Control System) is off.
Overall, leave any ego at the gate and be prepared to listen and learn. Most of all, have fun!

On the practice course they insist you leave it in Drive, but on the competition course they let you do whatever you like. I found that the fastest way around was to manual shift to second before the first slalom and leave it there for the rest of the course. Considering I beat the Pro on raw time (damned cone), it seems to work pretty well. :)
