Here I am emailing Mazda about how are the book shipments going when lo and behold they now tell me I'm not in the pre-order group.

I'm like WTF?!?!?! I've received all the emails so far, I've even talked to Ashley Inman in March, on the phone, as she helped me tracked down the dealer who placed the pre-order for me and now, of all times, she's telling me I'm not in the pre-order, I wont be getting a book, and I wont be receiving any emails.

What The Fookin Bloody Hell!!

Here's what she wrote.. oh check the part about when the cars are arriving at dealers..

I appreciate the opportunity to respond to you.

In regards to your e-mail, Mazda sent the gift book only to pre-sell
customers late last week. Our order database does not list your name as
a pre-sell customer, therefore you will not receive any pre-sell
communication or gifts. I would recommend addressing this issue with
your selling dealership as soon as possible, for resolution. If you
experience any concerns, please advise which Mazda dealership you
visited, and signed a contract with.

As for other question, mass production for the RX-8 began two weeks
ago. Mazda will be sending six or seven build status e-mails to
pre-sell customers between June and July. Pre-sell RX-8's will begin
arriving at Mazda dealerships around mid-July.

Best regards,

Darn, sorry to hear about your unfortunate circumstance.

But the email, if accurate, really gave some good info about these supposed email updates. Those in the pre-sale category should start receiving regular weekly updates as soon as next month!

dude call the 800 number and ask to talk to ashley and read back her earlier emails to her. they keep them all in a database and should be able to read it again themselves. this is unbelievable!!

Yup, I replied to her and told her I can forward all her previous emails that we shared. If she still doesnt remember that's when I'll be ringing the line.. Hopefully she replies soon.. the drama is killing me.

You know what... for those who havent received their books yet and think you are a pre-order, you might wanna think again. Email Mazda and find out for sure.. maybe that's why you dont have a book..

Talk about a ruinin a man's day.... aiyah.

When did you preorder RX. I believe the people that have received books where the ones that ordered by the March cut off date. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

My pre-order was made on January 10. I got all the pre-order emails up till the "Factory Accepted" one. Now all of a sudden I'm not a pre-order? Maybe those emails doesnt even justify being a pre-order? Just Spam perhaps..

I just got word from Ashley and she said I'm not even listed in their database under my last name and to go check with my dealer. Well, did that, and my even my dealer dont know what's up. They said they need to contact MNAO.

Aw man this is a nightmare. Almost enough for me to say screw the car. I give up. Never realized it would take so much effort just to pre-order a car and follow it through the process.

What a joke.

I got a book and I didn't order until 5/4, but I think I took over someone else's because in the Mazda system it shows as "ON ORDER 2/19". I must have sneaked into the pre-order program. Would that make me 2nd or 3rd allocation?

Most likely 3rd. I think the cut-off was 05.09.

Well, I bet I'm not the only one who thought they were on pre-order... you'll soon find you're not because you're not getting a book or the future emails apparently.

All this time I thought I was fine and dandy on pre-order (even confirmed by Mazda USA) but now I'm off the pre-order report for god knows why.

Thus I implore you all that think you are on pre-order and havent gotten a book, to double check with Mazda, you may be in for a surprise.

RX-Nut, If I remember right didn't you NOT preorder a car because they wouldn't commit to MSRP??? Then when you got your first email you were suprised that they put in an order for you when you wouldn't commit because of their lame a**. Maybe because they put your name on the pre order just to get one ordered and someone came in with some greens for a hefty deposit and willing to bend over and grab their ankles they then changed the email and contact info in the system to this new found customer.

Now maybe this is off the wall and completely unfounded, but just adding what could be. But then someone at your dealership should know that and be of insight. Best of luck to you.

Yup, it very well could be.. Either my dealer is being hush hush and trying to hide that fact from me, or the this pre-order program is that #$@#'d up.

Either way, I didnt see this coming since me and the dealer was peachy keen as far as the situation was concerned. The acknowledged that they pre-ordered me without confirmation and was willing to work with me thru the process.

Oh wells, who knows.. maybe Hawaii dealers are just that scrupulous. Hopefully I'l find out more in the next couple of days.

Thanks to all for listening to my rant.
