Anyway, today I went to school and parked in my assigned parking.

I come back at lunch to find out I received a parking violation for "unlawful parking on public grounds". It says it was citied because I didn't put my parking permit.

This wasn't from a campus peace officer either. It was from the LA county Sheriff's Department.

I had no idea they would check and do this on school grounds. This is so screwed up. This was one of the few moments when I forget to place my permit around the rear view mirror. :mad:

I'm so furious about how this ticket was achieved. The violation charge is 45 bucks. I went around asking the school officers and some of them just pissed me off. They said I'm suppose to have it displayed all the time. Usually warnings are given, but this time with was from the police and they Ticket'ed me. Simply because I didn't have my permit to show it was my assigned parking.

Not only that but it was a stupid ticket compared to anything else. My front tints, white side-marker lights, and no front-license plate were fine. Dang this!

Display your permit and don't mention the other stuff when you go to pay the ticket.
I have gotten tickets on campus before but never from areal cop, it's usually some small pimply kid with a hand-held printer. It's an easy fix and it doesn't cost anything to be legally parked. It sucks but that's life.

No worries. In the sixth months I've had this car I've been pulled over twice, both having nothing to do with speeding, which is what they should be pulling me over for. Instead, its "expired plate" and "disobeying stop sign" (which meant i turned right off a stop sign going 1 mph. damn cops). $45 is fine, I've paid a total of $250 for these two tickets.

You're lucky it's only 45 bones. Just imagine when you get your first speeding ticket... that scares me to death, I hope it never happens. I'm sure the good looks of your 8 probably attracted the attention of the cops too. Them's the breaks I guess...

Just pay it and move on.

I got the same type of ticket for the same reason but I contested it and sent them a copy of my permit and they reduced it to 20$. Now I never take my permit off cuz I might forget to put it on when I park.

Thanks for the input guys. I guess imma put my permit on and never take it off till school ends. I'll find a way to put it so I don't have to see it so much. A permit for school makes me think about school.

Here give it to me I will sign it and everything will be ok. Sike just kidding. Sorry about the ticket. Just go to the county and say it was on your dashboard. Nobody can say different. It's a clean cut case. you win. The county will not fight a 1st offense $45 ticket.

You have a Legal right to Park there - your parking pass being displayed or not doesn't revoke that right. Go to Court, tell the magistrate/judge you were cited for parking violation by mistake, as you're legally entitled to park where you were...see if that works.

I agree with dmp...I got a ticket once even when I DID have my permit up...the officer missed it because I had the EZ-PASS in the way. Went to court and showed them proof of my permit...they threw the ticket out. Sounds like what co3 said also.
