I had this photo e-mailed to me, but after reviewing it and researching the wave that hit Phuket; I have found that the wave was only 18' tall. So, this image is clearly altered. Has anyone else seen this image? If so, do you think it is real? If it is fake, someone has poor taste because this is circulating the Internet.

I don't think so, looks fake to me. I have seen it on other boards and that seems to be the consensus as well.

Looks like a scene from old school Godzilla or power rangers.

from what I have read tsunamis don't even break like that, they are more of a ripple than a white capped wave. tsunamis (habor wave) just appear as the tide rushing up very quickly. The videos I've seen look almost they put a garden hose on the ground next to a model of a city. I was reading on cnn today that it was only about 3 inches tall when it hit land but there is so much behind them that it fills up quickly and with great force and FUURIOUS anger and you will know that my NAME IS THE LORD. sorry got a little pulpy.

Ya know what caused that distruction? Topography. What are the reports? 30' waves? In Hawaii people SURF those size waves...had that wave hit the coast of Oregon, I doubt a lot of people would even notice. I'm not trying to down-play anything....just pointing out the factors which resulted in the damage :(

Tsunami waves aren't actually waves in the traditional sense. When we see waves in the water, they are surface waves. A tsunami wave is more like a flash flood in it's behavior. It is a rushing torrent of water that is not only limited to the surface but goes all the way to the bottom. It isn't they type of wave that is surfable.
