Well, I'm in your group too folks.
I think it's time for us to start yelling at Mazda. Whether or not it's called for, it's our job to help them 'turn over a new leaf' so that future buying experiences are not as poor as this.
I personally have just emailed rx8orders@mazdausa.com with the information that I've collected. Preorder customers already have gotten 'thank you' letters, in addition to the hardcover book (which is a pricey $50 if you bought the RX-7 one). There will be more addons for the pre-order candidates, and if we don't act we won't be a part of it.
The first thing you can do (given to me by RX8orders) is to call your dealer. Ask them to change your car to a pre-order vehicle or ensure that you will also get all the free gifts associated with ordering the car during the pre-order period. Ideally you should have your problem solved there. I personally have called my dealer two times now, and he has not replied to me yet.
Thus, I emailed Mazda. I think it's important for us to *all* tell them how poorly this pre-order process has gone, and how you feel very left out by not being a part of it.
I'm not the only one here who has waited two years for this car to be released, and put a deposit on the FIRST DAY I COULD. There are lots of you. So start calling your dealers. If they don't help you, email Mazda with their names and your dealer name. Include a contact number to show you mean business so they can call you back.
I've had such headaches lately, I'm just posting this up as a guide for people to get what should have been rightly theirs in the first place. The book is only one of the gifts thus far... who knows what else. I suggest we get acting quickly else we will be sorry for having nothing to show except a poor dealer experience and a sour taste in our mouths. My mouth already finds lemons sweet...
Cheers all, hope you all work it out and get those gifts you deserve!
And a note, this method will ONLY work for those who ordered during the pre-order period.
