Guess I missed that thread. I'm located in Maryland and can't wait to buy my RX-8. Must purcahse a house first and will probably get a larger home loan to include the purchase of the RX-8. That way I can get a tax benefit from the purchase of the 8 as well. :D

Yes, leather only comes with the GT package. The Touring package has cloth seats (which is what I'm going to get since I don't want leather).

here-here

a cut 7 paste from an earlier thread this AM:

Saw my Yellow 6sp at the Annapolis dealer. They trained with this guy the day before. Based on the dealer's walk-thru, there was little info to mention here (5-20 oil, non-synthretic, premium gas, which i really don't think is necessary other that loosing some hp). anyhow, here is an excerpt of an e-mail to a friend about my impression:

CAR. nOW i UNDERSTAND MY ORIGINAL apprehension. First impression of exterior was negative. The pictures were better (as opposed to what all others on the chat board said) than the real thing. Although, now i do believe that all yellow cars show little paint depth and gloss, and do not accentuate the curve suchly. They are getting three more not pre-sold cars next week. I may consider a switch-a-roony, although most cars will come with the $3k upgrade package that i don't want.
That said, the interior more than makes up for it. the instrument lighting is phenominal, the cloth seats are indeed better than leather (like a jet black short napped terri-cloth - real sharp for a thin seat in cross section). plenty of leg room, a smooth as silk clutch, and a true short throw tranny. comes with std SRS side bags, front & BACK. back seating has nice legroom, and my hair barelt touched the roof - it does seem a bit closterphobic with the small side window and the depp glove seating. exterior lights are hot, and more importantly traditional (not like radical 350Z). chrome appointment are there, but i'm sure not as well done as your TT. The radio area is surrounded in black plastic, which looks amazingly hot. roof is a light grey - eh.

I spend time both in DC where I grew up, and up in Baltimore where I'm currently in grad school. My 8 is currently waiting for its "Taxation Without Representation" plates (IE it's registered in DC).

I'm here and so is my RX-8. It's amazing driving around and not seeing another one anywhere.

I see celicas everywhere. See at least 1 drive by when I'm on the road. I just grin and smile away because that was my car until last week.

yea yea people keep saying Celica GT 2000 is a chick car but I still liked my little red gts. RX-8 got me forgetting my little red car fast!

I'm here in White Plains, Maryland, south of DC. I have a black GT that I scored on July 31st. I originally ordered a blue GT in the 3rd allocation but got impatient and walked right into Browns of Alexandria and bought the black one off the showroom floor. It had everything appearence pkg., rotary pkg, 6 disc, nav, everyone at the dealership was shocked when they saw it roll off the truck. I love it, my wife loves it, and my 2 little girls love it.

Dying to see other cars and talk to owners. Let's set up weekend night in a couple of weeks. Columbia, MD might be a good central location. Of course, I live close to the "Checkers" in Glen Burnie (yeah, I know); many cool cars there though.

No kiddin!
I live in White Plains. I'm In Robie Manor just near the 4 way at Billingsly Rd.
I actually saw that black car at Browns. I have pics on my digi camera. The sales guy there at Browns was trying to get me to buy it.
I will stick to my RX7 for the time being, but I would give you a ride in my 360ish HP RX-7 for a ride in your rx8?

Cool, I live in the Kingsview neighborhood off of Billingsly road. I know exactly where you live, used to party at a friends house there back in the day. We can meet, just name a time and place. You can PM me with any pertinent details.

tuckerst33,

I saw a Red RX-8 off of Shady Grove in Gaither. Is that yours?

Just wanted to say that this is a really good site. No kill stories and everyone seems pretty mature.

I don't own an RX-8, but really like the car a lot.
