View Full Version : Bad American?

"Am I A BAD American? (Or, things many Americans believe but are afraid to admit or speak out loud).

I like big cars (the faster the better), big boats, big houses, and naturally - Great Legs.

I don't believe in paying foreigners for natural resources we can pull out of the ground in our own country just because some cry-baby environmentalist who has never done a real day's work filed a lawsuit.

I believe the only real shortage in America is one of "common sense."

I believe the money I make belongs to me and my family, not some middle-aged governmental functionary with a bad comb-over who wants to give it away to crack addicts squirting out babies.

I don't care about appearing compassionate.

I believe in "buying American."

I don't believe burning the flag is free speech unless you recognize my right to punch you in the mouth for doing it.

I do not think playing with toy guns makes you a killer.

I believe in respecting ones elders, no matter how old you are.

I believe it's called the Boy Scouts for a reason.

I believe schools should be te

aching reading, writing, and arithmetic. Not diversity, tolerance, self-esteem, and all the other politically correct garbage that has kids shooting each other in school these days.

I believe in equal opportunity, not equal outcome.

I believe in nuclear power.

I think I'm doing better than the homeless.

I believe that government officials that cannot account for every penny spent by their department should go to jail, not get a promotion.

I don't believe animals have rights. I believe WE have a responsibility to treat them humanely and without unnecessary cruelty.

I don't believe Heather Has Two Mommies. Each child has but one mother and one father. Lets not confuse kids more than they already are.

I don't think being a minority makes you noble or victimized.

I believe that reparations for slavery have already been paid in blood on the battlefields of the Civil War. Not to mention 30 years of failed social programs that have wasted billions of taxpayer dollars.

I have the right "NOT" to be tolerant of others because they are different, weird or piss me off.

I know what SEX is and there are not varying degrees of it. Hell, just ask my wife.

I believe that if you are selling me a Dairy queen shake, pack of cigarettes, or hotel room you should do it in English. As a matter of fact, if you are an American citizen you should speak English. My father and grandfather shouldn't have to die in vain so you can leave the countries you were born in to come disrespect ours.

I think the cops have every right to shoot your sorry ass if you're running. If you can't understand the word freeze or stop in English, See the previous line.

I don't believe in Hyphenated-Americans. You're an American or you're not. Make up your mind and relocate if the answer is "NOT."

I believe in taking responsibility for my actions.

Calling yourself an "environmentalist" doesn't make you holier, or even smarter than the rest of us. In fact, there is a great deal of evidence to the contrary.

I don't use the excuse "it's for the children" as a shield for unpopular opinions, actions, or restrictions of our civil liberties.

If I received oral sex from one of my subordinate employees in my office, "it wouldn't be a private matter or my personal business." I would have been FIRED immediately.

I know how to count votes and I feel much safer letting a machine with no political affiliation recount when needed.

I know what the definition of lying is. I also know the definition of "is".

I don't think just because you were not born in this country, you qualify for any special loan programs, government sponsored bank loans, etc., so you can open a hotel, c-store, trinket shop, or any damn thing else.

I didn't take the initiative in inventing the Internet.

I want them to bring back safe and sane fireworks.

I believe no one ever died because of something Ozzy Osbourne, Ice-T or Marilyn Manson sang, but that doesn't mean I want to listen to that crap in someone else's car when I'm stopped at a red light.

I believe the road to Hell is paved with good intentions, especially those where government is involved.

I don't think that being a college student gives you any more enlightenment than working at Blockbuster or Jack In The Box.

I don't want to eat or drink anything with the words light, lite or fat-free on the package.

We did not go to some foreign country and risk lives in vain to defend our constitution so that decades later you can tell us it's a living document, ever changing, and open to interpretation.

I don't hate the rich. I don't pity the poor. I know wrestling is fake.

I've never owned or was a slave, and a large percentage of our Forefathers weren't wealthy enough to own one either. Hell, most of us didn't arrive here till after the Civil War…

I believe a self-righteous liberal with a cause is more dangerous than a Hell's Angel with an attitude.

I own a gun, you can own a gun, and any red blooded American should be allowed to own a gun, but if you use it in a crime then you will serve the time. A rubber band and a paper clip are dangerous in the hands of someone with malicious intent.

I worry about dying before I get even.

I think Bill Gates has every right to keep every penny he made and continue to make more. If it pisses you off, invent the next operating system and put your name on the building. Ask your buddy that invented the Internet to help you.

We don't need more laws! Let's enforce the ones we already have.

If you can't read, write, or do basic math by the time you finish high-school, its your own damn fault, not "the system's."

I believe that those who make the laws, should be bound by them, not the other way around.

I think turkey bacon, turkey beef, turkey fake anything sucks.

I believe that it doesn't take a village to raise a child, it takes a parent with the balls to stand up to the kid and spank his butt and say "NO."

I think tattoos and piercing are fine if you want them, but please don't pretend they are a political statement.

I will not be frowned upon or be looked down upon or be made to keep silent because I have these beliefs and opinions. I thought this country allowed me that right.

I will not conform or compromise just to keep from hurting somebody's feelings. I am sick to death of "Political Correctness."

I'm neither angry nor disenfranchised, no matter how desperately the mainstream media would like the world to believe otherwise.

I believe that America is the greatest nation ever conceived, and I will not apologize to anyone for that fact.

Could only get through about the first third. There is a lot of hate in there. A lot of playing ostrich too. Kind of like Fox news, some of it plays to the worst in all of us.

I like this one, made me laugh

I don't believe burning the flag is free speech unless you recognize my right to punch you in the mouth for doing it.

The others, well, there is some truth in a few of them.

I was kind of thinking that too. It definitely isn't a good generalization of Americans....if one can be made

Am I that old? There was a time, many years ago, when a mother tried to get her daughter in the boy scouts. Her daughter wanted to be in the boy scouts, because she felt the boy scouts did a lot more, compared to the girl scouts who just sold cookies. It was really a small isolated case that the media had a field day with. It got more coverage then the boy scout decision to not allow homosexual scout leaders.

Mixed review here too

To sum up all of CGRX's points I would say just this:

( taken in a holistic statement not directed at CGRX)

Stop complaining and take responsiblity for yourself! You only get exactly out of life what you put into it.

Not my points. I snagged it off of another site.
I wanted to see this sites reactions to it

still, I think too many people like to bitch about things and never take responsiblity for their actions...if they did we probably wouldn't have so many law suits because someone fell or spilled hot coffee on their lap.

True. And a hefty amount of well-intentioned cluelessness. It makes me think the original author comes from a rural area and hasn't much interaction with some of the more culturally diverse areas of the country. People talk about immigrants on welfare, but don't realize the number of immigrants who hold two or even three jobs. Kinda cuts into time for advanced English classes. :/

Maybe you should re-read the posts people on this forum have left. I haven't seen a single post where anyone has said, "I believe all this" or "I agree with the 'Buy American'" statement." Most have said they agree with some but not all.

I believe in "buying American", as long as the product is good quality and worth the money. I AM an American and I DO support my country, but I am not obligated to buy jack shit. I'll buy imports if I feel it's a better quality product and I'll take an RX-8 over a vehicle prone to rolling over and riding on exploding tires any day of the week.

Ford owning Mazda is not news, as most here are well aware. Before you go branding anyone a hypocrite, you may want to understand what they are saying first.

If that is indeed the truth, then I may have misread your sarcasm as cynicism, in which case, I appologize. I must warn you, however, there may exist on this forum, those more stupider than I, whose reading comprehension may not be as acute as mine. :D :D

People talk about immigrants on welfare, but don't realize the number of immigrants who hold two or even three jobs. Kinda cuts into time for advanced English classes. :/

It really depends on the area you're living in and how much you try to learn, doesn't mean you need to take classes to learn English. Some people live in an area where they're surrounded by their own people and they don't NEED to learn english.

Here's an extreme case. 2 weeks ago, my gf's dad came over from China for business trip. They had this guide who's taken them around for the last few trips too, and that guide, who has been here for 2 years, spoke worst english than the guys who came from China, and this past week is the very first time he has ate any type of western food, what the hell is that?

I'm all for immigration, I'm all for keeping their own heritage but refusing to learn a new language when you immigrate over to a new country is ridiculous. What's with all the spanish on the McDonald's monopoly game instructions?? If I move to a new country, I expect to adjust to the new environment, not the otherway around and everyone else cater to me.

How about the obvious?.. United States Citizens

Edit: US Citizens for short. But I'm not trying to change it now, as most people know that if you are called an "American" you are referring to yourself as a citizen of the United States. But when you think of say, Italy, you hear them say they are European but they know they aren't the only country in Europe. Just something to think about.
