Actually, that is not entirely correct. You can program a key using a main key and a valet key. When I bought my 8 the dealer couldn't find one of the main keys, so the ordered me a new one. They cut it when it arrived and i programmed it myself using the main key and the valet key that came with the car. I used the same technique - 5 seconds in on position with 2 good keys, then 5 seconds with the new one.

Yeah, programming it yourself will save you $150. Well, at least at my dealer, they want to charge 1.5 hours of labor for 10 minuts of work.. haha

When I ship Il send the Mazda install instructions for both the Key and the Transmitter.
I can tell you that the Mazda Dealers that tried to install the new key and faild did not wait long enough for the car to read the new key. The thef light will blink for a while when it is programming the new key.. Dont give up it may take a Min or so. In my car it took over a Minute for the thef light to stop blinking before I could remove that key.

Got the 05 key and FOB. programming was a little confusing for the FOB, because I couldnt figure out what the door button was (i asked the mazda parts sales person and helped me out).
All in all, it works GREAT! best ~190$ I've spent this new year:-) well dunno bout best, but still made me happy:-D Thew you kickass!

The new key fob is great! Had I known what I was doing, I could have programmed the key and the fob in about 5 minutes (and I have a very early '04 RX8). The trick with the fob programming is the button in the instructions is the button on the sill that senses the driver's side door being closed. Many thanks to Thew and Alphapenguin for their help!

Just remember when the key gets cut.. dont give it to them with the Transmitter part attached. Inside where the key folds you will see a small button.. push that and you can pull the key off the transmitter for cutting..

i think the answer is yes.. but if not.. like the ones i am selling to Singapore they can use the remote fob but they have no imobilzersystem..

Well my alarm system is the Fusion F2000 alarm and i also didnt install the imobilizer system on the car!!

So you think that it should recognize the car alarm signal so i can programn it on it?

I have this key and i can't make the immobilaizet to work...The US frequencies seem to don't work in European 8s...How can we make this work???

Chris if the RF works the Imobizer should..
but you may not have waited long enoguh when programming it .. IT took my car over 4 mins to find the kkey and accept it into the imobilizer system.. However aside from that it is designed for a USA spec car.
