View Full Version : Anybody else watch on shows on HBO?
VelociRedBeast 12-21-2004, 12:06 PM And if so what are they?
I LOVE The Sopranos and Carnivale..I also watch Da Ali G show and curb your enthusiasm but I don't like them half as much as the first two.
RX3+5 12-21-2004, 12:12 PM The wire also rocks (Showtime?).

VelociRedBeast 12-21-2004, 12:21 PM NO it's Hbo, never got around to watch The Wire though..I have TiVo and I'm bored so i'll go watch an episode of it now to check it out..
goforwand 12-21-2004, 12:26 PM The Wire.
First season was absolutely brilliant, second season was excellent.
The most recent season which concluded this past Sunday never really seemed to "get going" and the ending was too predictable, but still is my favorite show.
maikeru 12-21-2004, 01:08 PM Deadwood on HBO was brilliant. The new season won't be aired untill 2006 from what I understand. Bummer. :(
I agree with the above statements regarding The Wire, great show.
RX3+5 12-21-2004, 01:39 PM Deadwood! Good stuff as well.

apaul 12-21-2004, 01:48 PM Great to know there are other fans of HBO in the Club house. I was wondering if I was the only one to be hooked on The Wire since Season 1. Have posted 2x to rave about it, to one response. No indication on the HBO website that I could find whether or not David Simon is planning a Season 4.
That's a long wait for the return of Deadwood :(
Showtime, not HBO has a new series, Huff. Although not in the same league as the HBO offerings,IMHO, Oliver Platt is a standout and 'should' be a shoo-in nomination for a best Supporting Emmy.
MadRonin 12-21-2004, 02:32 PM I saw a promo on HBO this past weekend that the second season of Deadwood starts this March. It probably starts after Carnivale is done.
apaul 12-21-2004, 02:56 PM Thanks for the good news, MadRonin.:)

Taxicab confessions were fun. I wish I had time for hbo and tv in general again.
Rotary Nut 12-21-2004, 06:42 PM Whats HBO?? :D
NoTears316 12-21-2004, 06:45 PM I used to watch Fraggle Rock on HBO as a kid, does that count?
Sopranos and Six Feet Under.
jowettw 12-21-2004, 08:50 PM i don't pay the extra to get HBO :D
but i will say that Band of Brothers was the best thing to show up on TV ... EVER!
VelociRedBeast 12-22-2004, 12:47 AM Update, I watch the first 7 episodes of season one of Entorouge(I know I F-uped up spelling) and it's pretty good too..Jeez i wish I had HBO a few years Back..I even love bocing..anyone catch Tarver vs Johnson?
apaul 12-22-2004, 07:04 AM but i will say that Band of Brothers was the best thing to show up on TV ... EVER!
Ditto. Hanks and Spielberg are a powerhouse teamup. I read the book after..Think author Stephen Ambrose died not too long ago, unfortunately.
foxman 12-22-2004, 09:37 AM Six Feet Under and The Sopranos are the only shows I watch regularly on TV besides sports. Most of the other stuff is junk or boring or insults your intelligence, most network TV is all of the above.
I've been hooked on Six Feet Under and The Sopranos since they started. I used to watch Oz, I watched the past season of The Wire, and the first season of Carnivale. I do like Deadwood, but it strikes me odd to hear so much swearing in a western. Guess I've been conditioned by too many old westerns. And can't forget Ali G - he's a riot.
Photic 12-22-2004, 07:44 PM I almost exclusivly watch extended cable.
Showtime Max and HBO.
I think Penn and Tellers Bullshit is my favorite.
The only other channels I'll change to for other shows are Cartoon network, comedy central, spike tv, and fox for the simpsons.
doccable 12-23-2004, 12:24 PM Deadwood. Definately Deadwood. Haven't watched all that much of anything on television over the last 10 years, though. I figure I watch television all day, so the last thing I really want to do when I get home is watch more of it. Although high definition is interesting... :)

That's what I tell everybody that askes my opinion about Band of Brothers. IT still is the best thing ever put on television.

I wondered about the cursing in Deadwood as well. I found through reasearch that in towns like Deadwood, swearing was common. Maybe no one swore as prolifically as Al Swearengen does on the show, but it did happen.
