I brought you the most boring car on the road thread now it's time for the most embarrassing. Which cars on the road wouldn't you be caught dead in? For me it would have to be the Azteck, Element, ANY minivan and the Beetle. Too fruity for a guy to drive and I don't know how some can do it.

On one occasion I became the designated driver of a Yugo. We managed to pile up 8 people into it. I could barely change gears (A girl was sitting on top of the shifter). The cops thought it was amusing. On another occasion I had to drive an Omni from a party. In this case everyone was wasted.

the MOST embarrassing to drive?? that's easy...

a rusted out, sh*t brown K-Car wagon that's spouting blue+white smoke (oil AND coolant problems ahahaha...), barely able to idle, broken tail lights, cracked up windsheild, and billowing plastic over the hatch rear window ;)

tell me that's not the worst thing you could drive, just try :p

I was just joking about that. I remember the Swift but have never heard of the Samurai. When was that made around?

As for the most embarrassing car I have ever driven it has to be my grandfather's car. When I turned 16 this was the only thing I was able to drive since I didn't have my own car. He owned probably an 80s model Oldsmobile (forget which model) and it was green like an olive. In fact, my family used to call it 'the olive' because of the color. But the most embarrassing thing aside from the color was that my grandfather put this kinda sticker on the dash that had a pic of 'ol Jesus on it and said "Member of the Jesus League" or something equally ridiculous. Now THAT is embarrassing!

They stopped production in the early 90's. They're incredible POS trucks, but are very popular in the offroad world since they can be built-up quick cheaply and made very capable offroad.

It was sarcasm. Next time I'll remember to post a bunch of emoticons after a sarcastic remark just so you can tell the difference, 'kay?

The Aztek is definitely the ugliest car out there. Did this get discontinued yet?

Speaking of older, embarrassing cars, what about the VW Thing? Couldn't you like drive it in the ocean?!

The Aztec is ugly, but at least they gave it a tent to hide its shame.....

There is no harm in designing a 'radical' car like an Aztec or Element.....but there is a special level of Hades reserved for the guy who 'designs' the new Camry - what a bland, low-risk, marketing driven, non effort that is!

has to be the AMC Renault I drove from Ottawa, Canada to Phoenix, Arizona with duct tape on the C.V. Boot, 2 Mtn bikes on the front end, rottweiler and 200 pounds of luggage in the back. Had to have the heat on full blast goin through N.M. in August just so it wouldn't overheat!

Well the honda element would look ok with some green camouflage and maybe a top mounted machine gun.;)

I think the Element is pretty cool..... maybe the cool interior blinds my exterior vision??

Odly enough I really detest the Aztek is bad. Echo is horrible.

Well, pretty much anything would look good with a machine-gun mount on top. Or, better yet, a MK19 automatic grenade launcher :p At least people WOULDN'T DARE tell you your car was ugly!

Actually, I do think the Element is ugly. It's a great concept, though. I'd love to have a car that I could just hose out when it gets dirty. Seats that fold down to a bed. And that huge roof opening in the back. I wonder if you can leave it open while you drive, like a sun roof. My dad had a van that opened up like that. That was a FUN car, despite its terminal uglyness!

I'm practical about these things:
The Honda Element is just a rebadged CRV with a plastic interior. They're both perfectly capable, if utterly bland, vehicles.

Aztek isn't a piece of junk because of the appearance. It's a piece of junk because it has an awful safety rating and a 180 horsepower V-6 struggling to haul around a 4000 pound vehicle. It gets decent mileage for its size, but only because of tall gearing - which kills the last chance the V-6 has for acceleration.

The Toyota Echo is actually an okay car. I know a 6'5" guy who drives one and swears that it's comfortable. It's very similar to the Prius, and if you crunch the numbers, you need to put well over 200,000 miles on both cars before the Prius' better gas mileage offsets the $6,000+ you save by getting the Echo. (Not counting tax breaks for having a hybrid vehicle.)

I've been owner to a beat up '86 Ford Thunderbird, and an '87 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera... While I wasn't thrilled with either one, I wouldn't call them an embarassment either.
