On my recent visit (yesterday) to my Mazda dealer for the usual updates and shooting the breeze with my sales guy and the manager, I was luckily given one of their "Mazda Fuel" magazines which are suppose to be only for the dealership personnel. There was a lot of interesting information in there about dealer practices, customer service, product inofrmation, etc., but one of the most interesting was this little piece of information I got about the X-Men RX-8.
Here is the text from the caption of one of the X-Men RX-8 pictures:
"Did You Know...? There are actually two Mazda RX-8 X-Men Cars--one with an engine and one without. When Twentieth Century Fox began filming X2 last spring, the Mazda RX-8 wasn't far enough into production to provide a powered model. So, the driving scenes were filmed using a Mazda RX-8 X-Men Car created by mocking up a base Mazda RX-7. All stationary scenes were filmed using a cosmetically altered Mazda RX-8 without an engine. That's show business!"
So what we saw and heard driving in the movie was really an RX-7 in disguise.
Now don't everyone go buy the DVD once it's out just to play it freeze frame and see if they can tell the difference!.....;)
P.S. I also got a small pad of RX-8 Post-Its that was stuck inside the back cover! :D
